Means for Serenity and Talk of the Beloved

A sound intellect, a sound heart and a sound spirit... Akl-ı selîm, kalb-i selîm, ruh-i selîm.
These days, I have added a fourth to this list. Bir dördüncüsünü daha ekliyorum son zamanlarda:
Sound feelings... Hiss-i selîm.
Guiding people towards serenity will occur with these four elements. İnsanları huzura bâis üç unsur, bununla dört unsur olur.
A sound intellect: Akl-ı selîm:
An uncorrupted, pure mind, a companion of the heart, which is the centre of sound judgment, an operating system. Değişik şeyler ile kirletilmemiş, başka şeyler bulaştırılmamış, muhakeme merkezi diyebileceğimiz, kalbin/latîfe-i Rabbâniyenin yoldaşı, işleyen bir sistem.
Constantly sending information to the heart, like a mill stone grinding wheat, it turns the wheels of contemplation, meditation, remembrance and reflection to send pure feelings to the heart. Malumatını sürekli kalbe akıtan; dönen değirmen taşlarının ambara un akıttığı gibi, tefekkür, tedebbür, tezekkür, teemmül çarklarını çevirerek sürekli kalbî dünyamıza bir şeyler aktaran ve ondan (kalbden) mesajlar alan.
A sound intellect is not corrupted by worldly desires, political aspirations, human and animalistic desires.
The desire of the flesh we call it, but addiction to a bohemian life describes the feeling more appropriately. "Garîze-i beşeriye" diyoruz, günümüzde "bohemlik" tabiri daha çok o duyguyu ifade için kullanılıyor.
Where there is sound intellect, the heart naturally becomes sound. Akıl selîm olunca, kalb de selâmete selâm durur:
'Since the information and the messages passed onto me are such and their processing leads me in this way then this is what I have to do: "Gelen mesajlar, bu olduğuna göre ve bu şifrelerin çözülmesi beni bu noktaya yönlendirdiğine göre, bana düşen şey de şudur:
'I should always turn towards the Sun of the suns, may He be glorified and exalted, and my beating and pulsing should always remind me of Him.' Yüzüm hep o "Şemsü'ş-şümûs'a (celle celâluhu) müteveccih olmalı, kalbimin atışında sürekli O duyulmalı veya nabızlarımda O duyulmalı, kalbimin ritimlerinde O duyulmalı."
You know this saying very well: Çok iyi bildiğiniz bir söz:
'I wish all the people of the world loved whom I love. "Keşke sevdiğimi sevse kamu halk-ı cihan
And that all our words mentioned the Beloved One.' Sözümüz cümle hemân, kıssa-ı Cânân olsa."
I'll change this as well. Ben biraz onu değiştireceğim:
'If only all people in world loved the one I love; "Keşke sevdiğimi sevse kamu halk-ı cihân
I wish our talks would always be about the Beloved.' Sohbetimiz hemen her zaman, olsa sohbet-i Cânân."
I wish we always spoke about the Beloved. Hep Cânân'dan bahsedilse.
Those who are after worldly love lie when they mention the Beloved. "Can" isteyenlerin, cana takılanların, "Cânân"dan bahsetmeleri yalandır.
Those who become one with the Beloved are like a mirror to the Beloved and they live as if they always witness events originating from the Beloved.
A sound spirit. Rûh-i selîm:
This happens when one abandons the physical world for the world of the heart and traverses towards the world of the spirit.
The spirit is represents the Divine, so it must be sound and pure. Onu ifade ediyor; onun da selîm olması lazım.
If the soul is corrupted by the corruption of the day then regardless of wealth it cannot be purified from these.
It should be protected with the 'coat of piety' and one should put that coat in front of their mind. "Takva önlüğü" ile korunmalıdır; esasen üstünü kirletmemek için, sürekli o önlüğü dimağının önünde taşımalıdır.
With the coat or cover of piety. Takva önlüğü ile.
The worldly, corporeal, and carnal filth must spill on that coat instead of our heart and minds. Akıp gelen dünyevî kirler, beşerî kirler, nefsânî kirler, hevâî kirler dökülecek ise, ona dökülmeli, zihnimizi kirletmemeli, kalbimizi kirletmemeli.
Feeling and interpreting these correctly requires a sound sense. Ve bütün bunları doğru duyma, doğru hissetme, "hiss-i selim" ister.
And these feelings approach our perception; when it is difficult to evaluate with the mind and logic, the heart's tongue begins to talk, at a realm where the human mind cannot comprehend, listening the chants belonging to Him, like a flute. This is called the realm of perception, this very state becoming a part of your nature.
You may call this the 'centre of stimulation', stimulation does not quite do it justice, you can call it, the centre of 'drive, command, and push'. İsterseniz ona, sizi hep O'na yönlendiren "dürtüler merkezi" diyebilirsiniz; "dürtü" kelimesi, hafif düştü; "sevkler, emirler, itmeler merkezi" diyebilirsiniz.
'Inner sensation' is beyond feeling. "İhtisas" hissin ötesinde.
According to linguistic rules, grammar and inflection, it means feeling something, understanding it correctly with the essence of its actual fact. Dil kuralları açısından, yani Sarf/İştikak açısından baktığınız zaman, bir şeyi hissetme, duyma, mahiyet-i nefsü'l-emriyesiyle onu doğru okuma, doğru anlama demektir.
And that becoming part of your nature, a deeper understanding of that is called 'inner sensation'.
When someone reaches 'inner sensation', just as you have the urge for humanly pleasures such as eating and drinking, you begin to have the urge for things you are meant to be doing without considering the divine commands behind them, you feel pushed towards them naturally, according to the 'inner sensation'.
Is there an aspect you don't understand? Anlaşılmayan yanı var mı?
When you look at things with that perspective, just like you are tempted to eat and drink, you feel tempted to listen to God's commands, 'Pray, fast, stand in my prescience girded ready for worship, bow down in front of me. Say, 'This isn't enough' and bow once more' doing this with the thoughts, 'He is my Lord, and I am His slave' O ufuk ile baktığı zaman meselelere, yemeye, içmeye ve sâir -geniş dairede- beşerî arzulara ihtiyaç duyduğu, onların üzerine yürüdüğü gibi, Allah'ın "Namaz kılın, oruç tutun; karşımda el-pençe divan durun, kemerbeste-i ubudiyet ile kulluğunuzu edâ edin, karşımda asâ gibi iki büklüm olun, 'Yetmedi.' deyin, secdeye kapanın" manasına bu mevzudaki emirlerini -evvelen ve bizzat- nazar-ı itibara almadan, "O, Allah; ben de O'nun âzâd kabul etmez kuluyum" deyip kullukta bulunur.
But doing this with a desire from within. İçten gelen istekler ile, arzular ile.
This is what 'drive' means in a sense; but being 'directed' and doing your duty, doing things in such a way where it becomes inner sensation, beyond feeling. "Dürtü" sözü de onu bir manada ifade ediyor; fakat "itme"ler ile, "sevk etme"ler ile o vazifeyi yapma, işi o ölçüde tabiatın bir boyutu haline getirme mevzuu ihtisas oluyor, hissin ötesinde.
If one finds peace with his feelings and is free from corruption, he walk towards inner sensation and the doors leading to 'Friendship with God' will open up. İnsan, his dünyasında selâmete ererse, kirliliklerden uzak kalırsa, ihtisasa doğru ciddî kapılar aralamış olur ve "Allah'a dostluk" yolu (velâyete giden yol) da ondan geçer.
'God is the confidant and guardian of those who believe, bringing them out from all kinds of (intellectual, spiritual, social, economic and political) darkness into the light, and keeping them firm therein' (Al-Baqarah, 2:257). "Allah, iman edenlerin velîsi (işlerini Kendisine havale etmeleri ve her bakımdan güvenmeleri gereken dostu, yardımcısı ve koruyucusudur); onları daima her türlü (zihnî, manevî, içtimaî, iktisadî ve siyasî) karanlıklardan nura çıkarır (ve nurlarını arttırır)" (Bakara, 2:257).
God is their confidant; bringing them out from all sorts of carnal, bodily, animalistic or natural darkness and enlightens them with His Divine light. Allah, onların dostudur; onları karanlıklardan, değişik nefsânî, cismânî, hayvanî, tabiî karanlıklardan çıkarır ve Kendi ziyâ-ı nuru ile nurlandırır.
Not even a thousand projectors can enlighten one's path as brightly.
God is the light of the heavens and the earth; He illuminates the heavens and the earth. Allah, Nûru's-semâvâti ve'l-ard'dır; göklerin ve yerin Münevviridir, Nurlandıranıdır.
Indeed, mankind should always desire Him while sitting, standing, speaking, moving his lips, and even hearing things. Evet, insan, otururken, kalkarken, konuşurken, dudakları kıpırdarken, hatta kulaklarına bir şeyin gelmesi söz konusu olduğunda hep O'nu arzulamalıdır.
One should always live with the desire; 'I wish I could hear melodies about Him.' "Keşke o (O'nunla irtibatlı) nağmeler gelse" mülahazası ile yaşamalıdır:
I wish we could hear those melodies. Keşke o nağmeler gelse.
I wish someone would come and say to me: Biri gelse, bana dese ki:
'Can one who seeks the Beloved have confusions in his heart and care about worldly desires? "Cânan dileyen, dağda-i câna düşer mi?
'And can one who seeks his own life be in quest of the Beloved?' Can isteyen, endişe-i Cânân'a düşer mi?"
I desire to listen to Him and head on His path; head on the path of the Beloved. O'nu dinlesem ve hemen eğilsem o istikamette; Cânân'a doğru eğilsem.
Those who seek their own life are bound to go astray on the path, God forbid. Canına takılı gidenler, Cânân yolundan sapmaya maruzdurlar, hafizanallah.
One should devote one's life to the command of the Beloved. O canı; Cânân'ın emrine, Cânân'ın güdümüne vermek lazım.
'We are following the path of love, we are mad about that love. "Girdik reh-i sevdâya, cünunuz
We are in no need of personal dignity. Bize namus lazım değil
Oh dear heart, does this work befit your dignity?' Ey dil ki, bu iş şâna düşer mi?"
The matter should be approached with this mindset. Sen meseleye öyle bak.
Those who take that path constantly seek 'the Beloved', and keep saying, 'O my Beloved, O my Beloved!' Fakat o yola girenler, oturur-kalkar hep "Cânân" der dururlar, "Cânân, Cânân."
'Your eyebrow is like the "two bow-length's nearness to God" "Kaşındır 'Kâb-ı kavseyni ev ednâ'
Your face brings to our minds the chapter of the All-Merciful: Why?' Yüzündür Sûre-i Rahman, nedendir?."
Muhammad Lütfi Effendi says: Alvar İmamı diyor:
'This heart is so fond of you, O beloved: Why? "Sana, Cânân, gönül hayran nedendir
Your beauty is shining like the bright day: Why? Cemâlin gün gibi rahşan, nedendir
Your eyebrow is like the "two bow-length's nearness to God" Kaşındır 'Kâbe kavseyni ev ednâ'
Your face brings to our minds the chapter of the All-Merciful: Why?' Yüzündür sûre-i Rahman, nedendir?"
'This heart is so fond of you, O beloved: Why? Sana Cânân, gönül hayran, nedendir?
Your beauty is shining like the bright day: Why? Cemâlin gün gibi rahşân (pırıl pırıl) nedendir?
Your eyebrow is like the "two bow-length's nearness to God" Kaşındır "Kâb-ı kavseyni ev ednâ."
Your face brings to our minds the chapter of the All-Merciful: Why?' Yüzündür Sûre-i Rahman, nedendir?
These words are addressed to the Pride of Humanity, the Polished mirror, peace and blessings be upon him.
'Whatever exists in the universe is a mirror and subsists by Him; "Bir âyinedir bu âlem, her şey Hak ile kâim
It is God who is constantly reflected in the mirror of Muhammad.' they said. Mir'ât-ı Muhammed'den, Allah görünür, dâim" demişler, sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem.
I believe that if one remains steadfast in this direction and keeps his heart, soul, perception, and inner sensation in spiritual vigilance, one can enter a protected world surrounded with walls made up of these.
What are the walls of Istanbul? İstanbul'un surları ne oluyor?
What are the walls of Rome? Roma'nın surları ne oluyor?
By God's leave, sinister feelings and impure human considerations cannot come through these walls. Öyle çevrili surların içine girmiş olur ki, şeytanî duygular, beşerî kirli mülahazalar akıp içeriye giremez, Allah'ın izniyle.
Because those gates have been shut by those feelings; the gates are sealed and their hearts declare: Çünkü o kapıları bu duygular kapamıştır; arkasına da sürgü vurmuşlardır ve kalbleri şöyle bağırıyordur:
'Don't wear yourself out in vain. "Beyhude yorulma.
The doors are bolted up.' Do not tire yourself in vain, the doors are closed. Kapılar sürmelidir" beyhude yorulma, kapılar sürmelidir.
There are numerous events that contaminate minds and feelings in this day and age.
By repeating and concentrating on the things said and done by others, without realising, the person who was nagging you pushes you away into those currents. Wandering around in vain. Hiç farkına varmadan, şu size dırıltı eden insan da o türlü akıntılara kapılarak, bazen birilerinin deyip-ettiği şeyleri tekrar etmek suretiyle, hiçbir faydası/getirisi olmayan vadilerde beyhude dolaşıp duruyor.
While they could have proudly walked among rose gardens, there are thorns prickling their feet as they wander around in thorn patches. Gül bahçesinde reftâre gezmek var iken, ayaklarına diken bata bata hâristanda dolaşıp duruyor.
Events are happening so quickly, overwhelming us in such dark ways, the carnal soul says: Hadiseler öyle şiddetli akıyor, öyle çirkince üzerimize geliyor ki, nefis diyor:
'Are you not going to respond to this?' "Sen buna mukabele etmeyecek misin?"
They have been backbiting, lying and, forgive me, called us 'dogs'. Gıybet etmişler, yalan söylemişler, bağışlayın "Kelb" demişler:
'Tahir called me a "dog" "Tahir efendi bana 'Kelb.' demiş
His compliment is apparent in this phrase İltifatı bu sözde zâhir durur
For I am from the Maliki school, Zira mezhebim Mâliki benim
According to the Maliki school, the dog is tahir (pure).' Mâliki mezhebine göre kelb, Tâhir'dir."
Pun. Cinas.
It is best not to think about it, just ward it off form your internal considerations. Meseleyi iç mülahaza ile, böyle savmak suretiyle bence ona hiç girmemek lazım.
'But if you endure patiently, it is indeed better for the patient' (An-Nahl, 16:126). "Fakat sabreder de mukabele yerine af yolunu seçerseniz, böyle davranmak, sabredenler için hiç kuşkusuz daha hayırlıdır" (Nahl, 16:126).
You should display the required sublime character upon calamities, and not act according to others' natures.
'Everyone acts according to his own character (made up of his creed, worldview and disposition), Her insan kendi seciye ve karakterine göre davranır.
and your Lord knows best who is better guided in his way' (Al-Isra, 17.84).
Everyone displays their own character. And whatever they display, God is the one who knows it best.
Since God knows this, that exhibit should display things satisfactory in the sight of God; knocking on the door of good pleasure; one's face should reflect ardent longing for the vision of Divine Beauty and the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind. Şimdi Allah biliyor ise, bence, o sergide öyle şeyler sergilemeli ki, nezd-i Ulûhiyette kabule karîn olsun; rızanın kapısının tokmağına dokunsun; çehresine bakıldığında o mülahazanın, onda Rü'yet-i Cemâlullah'a aşk u iştiyak okunsun, Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-Enâm'a aşk u iştiyak okunsun.
Others have said this and that.... El-âlem şöyle demiş, böyle demiş.
He called you 'fake' he said this, he said that. "Müsvedde" demiş, bilmem ne demiş; falan demiş, filan demiş.
One should not respond hastily with, 'You too are fake.' "Sen de müsveddesin" demek suretiyle hemen mukabelede bulunmamalı.
He has exhibited the content of his character; God holds him at that standard. It may even be a situation of pity. O, karakterinin gereğini yapmış; Allah onu, o seviyede tutuyor, belki acınacak durumda.
Why should you sacrifice your own status? Ne diye kendi seviyene kıyıyorsun.
Your heart has a connection with God, your feelings pure, your logic works for Him, only His name is heard in the rhythm of your heart.
If the real pulse was listened to, you would hear, 'He, He.' Nabızların ciddî dinlense, adeta "Hû, Hû" sesi duyuluyor.
Like Muhammad Lütfi Effendi. Alvar İmamı gibi.
When he would say, 'there is no deity but God,' he would not say it like we do, perhaps some of you might. O, böyle "Lâ ilâhe illallah" derken, bizim gibi demiyordu; hani, bazılarınız diyorsunuzdur belki.
The exception that follows the negation; the essence is in this expression. And with the declaration of 'God', 'There is no deity but God,' becomes complete.
The heart gains rhythm with the acknowledgement of this; when you give ear to his heart you can hear that his heart beats differently. Kalb, bu ikrarla ritme giriyor; onun kalbine kulağınızı verdiğiniz zaman anlıyorsunuz ki farklı atıyor kalb.
Was it beating at 150, or at 200 bpm? Yüz elli mi atıyor, iki yüz mü atıyor?
He was once ill and the doctor wanted to listen to his heartbeat. Hazret bir gün hastalanmış, doktor onun nabzını dinlemek istiyor:
The doctor says, 'Dignified sir. "Efendi hazretleri.
Could you please slow down the rhythm of your heartbeat so I can measure at what rate it's actually beating?' Şu kalbinizin hızını, vitesini biraz düşürseniz de ben gerçekten ne atıyor, onu alabilsem" diyor.
I believe, if the heart is beating as such then it is not fond of other things that come to it.
Just as the Pride of Humanity motioned his hands like so and said to this world, 'Go. You cannot make me accept you. Go.' İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu'nun, ellerini böyle yaparak, dünyaya "Git, bana kendini kabul ettiremezsin" dediği gibi, "Git.
His heart must also be saying, 'You cannot make me accept you.' Bana kendini kabul ettiremezsin" diyordur.
Yes, we should push it away. Evet, onu itmek lazım.
Now, the whole world, as a necessity of their character, is hurling a portion of impure things in your direction.
There are a few centralities of this impurity. I will not outline them, some may be offended.
They spread all that they say and do across the four corners of the world. Bütün bunlar, deyip ettikleri şeyleri dünyanın dört bir yanına yayıyorlar.
They do all that they can, in many different ways, with whatever propaganda, to beautify and make their worldly goods look as attractive and desired. Farklı şekilde, allıyorlar, pulluyorlar, metalarına rağbet uyarmak için ellerinden gelen her türlü propagandayı yapıyorlar.
Many people are poisoned with this. Çok kimse, bunun ile zehirleniyor.
However, one who has given their heart to God, become the Majnun, the Farhat of this matter; their eyes should not waiver to anyone but their Beloved One. Fakat gönlünü Allah'a vermiş, kaptırmış, o işin Mecnun'u olmuş, Ferhat'ı olmuş, Vâmık'ı olmuş bir insanın gözü Mahbûb'undan başkasına kaymamalı.
They should block their ears in the face of anything that is uttered outside of what He utters. O'nun dediklerinin, ettiklerinin dışındaki şeylere kulak kapalı kalmalı.
The heart should hear this. Kalb, onları duymamalı.
And one should never take those other voices into consideration. Ve insan, onları hiçbir zaman mülahazaya almamalı.
Through focusing on the observation of good, His self-disclosure will always leave you drenched in His manifestation. Güzel mülahazalarda konsantrasyon sayesinde, O'ndan gelen tecellîler, sizi sürekli bir tecellî sağanı altında bırakır.
However much distance you keep, may God protect you from it, you will become that much more, further away from Him.
He is near. O, yakındır.
For the love of God, don't abandon this closeness with distance from Him. Gelin, Allah aşkına, o yakınlığı kendi uzaklığınıza kurban etmeyin.
'If my servant takes a small step towards me, I, will take a stride towards him', God says. "Kulum, bana bir ayak gelir ise, Ben, bir adım gelirim" diyor.
This is God's interaction in this matter; God, rather, is figuratively exempt from 'striding' or 'moving forward' etc. Bu, mukabeledir; Allah, "adım atmak"tan, "gelmek"ten münezzehtir.
God is near, not in the literal sense. Allah, o türlü yaklaşmalardan münezzehtir; O, her zaman bize yakındır, en yakındır:
'Assuredly, it is We Who have created human, and We know what suggestions his soul makes to him. "Gerçek şu ki, insanı Biz yarattık ve nefsinin ona sürekli olarak neler fısıldadığını, neler telkin ettiğini biliriz.
We are nearer to him than his jugular vein' (Qaf, 50:16). Biz, ona şah damarından daha yakınız" (Kâf, 50:16).
'I am nearer to you than your jugular vein.' "Ben, size, sizin şah damarınızdan daha yakınım."
Being far is associated to whom? Uzaklık kime ait?
To those that chase after the fanciful inclinations and desires of the human carnal soul Cismanî, nefsânî, hevâî arzularına takılmış insanlara.
'I drifted away from the beautiful ones, "Cüdâ düştüm güzellerden
Now I woe, Derem:
and now I am in longing'. 'Vâ hasretâ.' şimdi."
They are travelling several realms; distant from that which is beautiful. Değişik vadilerde dolaşıyor; Güzel'den cüdâ (ayrı) düşmüş.
Your duty to God is to overcome your distance and pursue closeness to Him. Senin O'na karşı yapacağın şeyler, kendi uzaklığını aşmak ve O'nun yakınlığına ulaşmak.
He is near. O, yakın.
Any distance is caused by yourself, since it is something that your own did with your actions; and until you overcome this thing you will not achieve nearness.
However if you are distracted by certain things, or if you get caught up by others' opinions, if you pollute this connection like that of others who bring the community places to ruin or with your conversations with people, you cannot overcome this state. You will not be able to achieve nearness and become like that of intimate friends, or be in the company of the noble Spirit and Master of Humankind.
To attain this state, there is the need for discipline. Bütün bu mazhariyetlerin arkasında, konsantrasyona ihtiyaç var.
If you, as expressed in the language of our elders, have a 'religious point of view', and if your gaze is fixated on that thing, then you will be able to see what needs to be seen. Siz, bir şeye -eskilerin ifadesiyle- im'ân-ı nazar etmiş iseniz, gözünüzü ona dikmiş iseniz, işte o zaman görüleceği görmüş olursunuz.
Otherwise, your eyes will be open and you will just stare. 'To see' is different to just merely 'looking'. Yoksa gözlerinizi açıp bakarsınız ama "bakma" başkadır, "görme" başkadır.
You will look but in a state of sluggishness, you will find yourself asking, 'What just happened?'
In the Prophet's time, political leaders would come and sit amongst the Companions and Prophet. Huzur-i Risâlet-penâhî'ye geliyor, oturuyorlar, o dönemin siyasîleri.
When they left his presence, they would wonder, 'What did that man just say?'
The Qur'an states: Kur'an-ı Kerim ifade buyuruyor:
'And among them, (O Muhammad), are those who listen to you, "Onlardan öyle kimseler vardır ki seni dinlerler.
until when they depart from you, they say to those who were given knowledge, 'What has he said just now?' Nihayet yanından çıktıkları zaman kendilerine ilim verilmiş olanlara 'O, demin ne söylediydi ha?' derler.
Those are the ones of whom God has sealed over their hearts, Onlar öyle kişilerdir ki Allah kalblerinin üzerine mühür basmıştır.
and who follow their lusts and fancies.' (Muhammad, 47:16). Onlar hevâ ve heveslerine uymuşlardır" (Muhammed, 47:16).
'What did that man say?' they asked. "O adam ne demişti ki?" diyor/diyorlar.
He said: 'Blessed and Supreme is He Who has set in the sky great constellations, and placed in it a (great, radiant) lamp and a shining moon' (Al-Furqan, 25:61). "Gökte burçlar yaratan, onların içinde bir kandil (güneş) ve nurlu bir ay yerleştiren Allah, yüceler yücesidir, hayır ve ihsanı sınırsızdır" (Furkân, 25:61) demişti.
It is something that will raise fear in a person. İnsanda ürperti hasıl edecek şey.
'Surely in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day (with their periods shortening and lengthening), there are signs (manifesting the truth) for the people of discernment. "Muhakkak göklerin ve yerin yaratılışında, gece ile gündüzün birbiri ardınca gelip sürelerinin uzayıp kısalmasında düşünen insanlar için elbette birçok dersler vardır.
They remember and mention God (with their tongues and hearts), standing and sitting and lying down on their sides (whether during the Prayer or not), and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: Onlar ki Allah'ı gâh ayakta divan durarak, gâh oturarak, gâh yanları üzere zikreder, göklerin ve yerin yaratılışı hakkında düşünürler ve derler ki:
"Our Lord, Ey Yüce Rabbimiz.
You have not created this (the universe) without meaning and purpose Sen bunları gayesiz, boşuna yaratmadın.
You are absolutely above doing anything meaningless and purposeless. Seni bu gibi noksanlardan tenzih ederiz.
Save us from (having wrong conceptions of Your acts and acting against Your purpose for creation, and so deserving) the punishment of the Fire!"' (Al Imran, 3:190-191). Sen bizi o ateş azabından koru" (Âl-i Imrân, 3:190-191) demişti.
The Pride of Humanity would look to the beaming sky and say, 'Shame on those who read this verse and shed no tears'.
Those who hear sit with him and listen to him go outside and say, 'What did he say?'.
They label the Prophet as, 'an ordinary man'.
'To look' is different; 'to see' is different. Evet, bakma başkadır, görme başkadır.
There is something different in hearing sound, and interpreting it.
What is this telling me? Bana ne diyor acaba?
What does it mean? Ne anlatıyor bu?
The effect of this on the heart, the heart calibrating itself; these are other things. O meselenin kalbe nüfuzu, kalbi kendine göre ayarlaması, kalibrasyondan geçirmesi; bunlar başka şeylerdir.
Consequently, if a person is created in this predisposition, then to not insult our creation and use our endowments for inferior goals, Dolayısıyla, insan bu donanımda yaratılmış ise, böyle fâniyât u zâilâta meyletmek suretiyle, değersiz şeylerde o yüksek donanımını kullanmak suretiyle israfa gitmemeli.
Being wasteful, just as we said in the beginning. Baştan dedik ya, "israf".
Being wasteful in thoughts, in sight, with time. Düşünce israfı, bakma israfı, zaman israfı, benim dırdırlarım karşısında sizin zamanınızın israfı gibi, israfı, israfı, israfı.
We must not think of being wasteful only in the physical paradigm; it is not just eating, drinking and sleeping. İsrafı sadece malda anlamamak lazım; yiyip-içip yan gelip kulağı üzerine yatmada anlamamak lazım.
There is waste in all this. Bunların hepsinde israf.
'O children of Adam! "Ey Âdem'in çocukları.
Dress cleanly and beautifully for every act of worship; Her namaz vaktinde mescide giderken, süsünüz olan elbisenizi giyinin.
and eat and drink, but do not be wasteful (by over-eating or consuming in unnecessary ways): Indeed, He does not love the wasteful' (Al-A'raf, 7:31). Yiyin, için fakat israf etmeyin; çünkü Allah israf edenleri asla sevmez" (A'râf, 7:31).
He does not like those who commit excess and waste. İsraf edenleri Allah sevmez.
Wherever it is, those who are wasteful, those who ponder on useless things, sail in impossible waters, those who get caught up in satanic and egotistic desires; they are wasteful, they waste what is important. Neyde olursa olsun, israf edenleri, gereksiz şeylere takılıp gidenleri, olmayacak şeylere yelken açanları, nefsânî ve şeytânî arzulara takılıp gidenleri, Allah (celle celâluhu) affetmez; çünkü israf ediyorlar, çok önemli bir şeyi israf ediyorlar.
If a person gets caught up in the current of a stream, their intention should be to end up in the sea.
There is no wind that can make a ship without a route and compass, sail to its destination. Pusulası olmayan, hedefi belli olmayan bir gemiyi varması gerekli olan yere götürmeye hiçbir rüzgârın gücü yetmez.
The route should be determined, which requires a compass or a GPS so that one can focus on the destination. Rota, belli olması lazım; onu belirlemede pusula olması lazım veya daha modern sistemler olması lazım, tâ insan hep gideceği yere kilitli olsun.
Otherwise, a tsunami, a big wave or some other trouble might come our way while we are swimming and we will be at risk of losing our path and no matter how much effort and strength we put in, we will not be able to repair the damage.
For the sake of God, please come and I am sure you don't, but from my position, let's not waste our time, if my courtesy allows, with others' 'dirdiriyat (idle talk)'. Gelin, Allah rızası, için -siz öylesiniz inşallah, ben kendi zaviyemden konuşuyorum- zamanımızı/vaktimizi başkalarının -eğer nezaketim müsaade etseydi "dırdıriyât" diyecektim- dırdıriyâtıyla israf etmeyelim.
The word 'dirdir' comes from Turkish; 'yat' is a postfix that refers to feminine sound plural nouns in Arabic. "Dırdır" kelimesi Türkçemizde; o "yât" kelimesi Arapçadaki Cem'-i müennes sigası oluyor.
I just happened to use a feminine sound plural noun because I guess idle talk lead to more idle talk. Cem'-i müennes sigasıyla söyledim, çünkü dırdır, dırdır doğurur; o espriye binaen herhalde, dilimden öyle çıktı.
We should pay attention to the things that are worth paying attention to, listen to things that are worth listening to, concentrate on things worth our time and do things that we need to do and not get disoriented. O türlü şeylere kulak vermeden, esas kulak kesilecek şeylere kulak vermek lazım; göz ile, konsantre olunacak şeylere konsantre olmak lazım; yapılması gerekli olan şeyleri yapmak ve dağınıklığa düşmemek lazım.
The Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman says: Hazreti Pîr-i Mugân, Şem'i tâbân, Ziyâ-ı himmet diyor ki:
'Even if we had four hands instead of two, they will not be sufficient to do things we need to do'. Even if we had eight hands, sixteen hands or thirty two hands, they will not be enough to accomplish things that we need to do. "İki elimiz var, dört elimiz dahi olsa, yapmamız gerekli olan şeyleri yapmaya yetmez" sekiz elimiz de olsa, on altı elimiz de olsa, otuz iki elimiz de olsa, yapılması gerekli olan şeylere yetmez.
In this case, we must send orders to the millions of neurons in our brain at the same to dedicate them all to the same task. Öyle ise, zihnimizdeki o milyonlarca nöronun hepsini aynı noktaya teksif etmek suretiyle onlara emirler vermeliyiz; kumandalar, sinyaller göndermeliyiz:
We should say, 'Turn towards this point'. "Bakın şu noktaya müteveccih olun" demeliyiz.
What is that point? Nedir müteveccih olmanız gerekli olan şey:
You seem to be surrounded by troubles from all four sides.
But God bestows many solutions and ways out as well.
You are locked in, they close the door on you but God opens you a window to exit. Siz bir yere kapatıldığınızı hissediyorsunuz, kapıyı kapatıyorlar; Allah (celle celâluhu), çıkacak bir pencere açıyor.
In one sense, they prevent you to from being stuck in your own world and open you the doors to the real world: Onlar, bir yönüyle kendi dünyamızda oturup-kalmanıza mani oluyorlar; dünya, kapılarını ardına kadar açıyor:
'Go and blow your resuscitating breath to different places of the world. "Siz gidin o Hızır soluklarınızı dünyanın değişik yerlerinde soluklanın.
Mankind is in need for such breaths.' İnsanlığın o türlü soluklara ihtiyacı var."
Now, in return for this one door, didn't God open for you a thousand other doors? Şimdi Allah, bir kapıya bedel, bin tane kapı açmış mı açmamış mı?
If a door closes, God will open a thousand other doors in its place. "Bir kapı bend ederse, bin kapı eyler küşâd
A saintly person says, 'God Almighty is the Opener of doors'. Hazreti Allah -efendi- Müfettihü'l-ebvâb'dır" diyor bir Hak dostu.
A door closes, but God the Exalted opens a thousand more. Bir kapı bend ettiler, Hazreti Allah bin kapı küşâd eyledi.
From thousands of places around the world, people listen with a certain expectation, their ears fixated on your voice: Dünyanın bin yerinde, kulaklar size ait sesleri artık çok ciddî bir intizar ile bekliyor:
'What could these people possibly say? "Acaba ne diyecekler bu adamlar?
What is the depth of their thoughts, of these people that are described in such-and-such way by others?
What will they bring forth? They will ask in anticipation. Getirip önümüze ne dökecekler bunlar?" diye intizar içinde.
Since this is the case, we must bring forth such things, what we seek, in the market, should have the highest demand.
The value of what we bring forth, at the same time increases its demand. Döktüğümüz malın kıymeti, aynı zamanda talebi de artırır.
You could bring copper, other metals and the demand will meet the supply.
In a way, what you bring forth is a reflection of your value and worth. Döktüğünüzün kıymeti aynı zamanda sizin de kıymetinizi aksettirir.
If the world is waiting in expectation, and if the only way to end break the effect of these asymmetric attacks upon you is to bring our minds together and ponder 'How can we, by the grace of God, overcome these temporary anxieties and troubles?'
How could you transform windows into doors of freedom? Pencereleri kapı haline nasıl çeviririz?
How will you upgrade a house door to a fortress gate? Ev kapısını, kale kapısı haline nasıl getiririz?
We are merely walking, how can we fly like turtledoves? Yerde yürüyoruz, üveyikler gibi nasıl kanatlanırız?
How can we reach all those places we need to be in, what gear should we shift to, to reach them in a shorter time?
To those that wait what we have to say in anticipation, how can we make our voices heard to them; and meet their expectation?'
If a person is focused on this topic, I am assuming, their time wouldn't be wasteful, neither their thoughts will be useless, nor their efforts and discussion and interactions wasted. İnsan bu konuya konsantre olursa, zannediyorum, zamanını israf etmemiş, düşüncesini israf etmemiş, aktivitelerini israf etmemiş, müzakerelerini, meşveretlerini israf etmemiş olur.
And all of a sudden a dead plain is transformed into a garden.
(Looking at the screen in the room:) (Sözün burasında elektronik tabloya akseden dörtlük.)
'You came in winter but you smell of spring, "Kışta gelmiştin ama soluklarında bahar,
The roads you walked upon are rose gardens. Bugün geçip gittiğin yollar, bitevî gülzâr;
I travelled for your sake through many realms, Mefkûren uğruna dolaşmıştın diyar diyar,
Now you are eternally beautiful, oh my loyal beloved.' Şimdi bir yâd-ı cemil oldun, ey vefalı yâr."
Now your heart is beating continuously, saying: Şimdi kalbin hep atıyor, diyor:
'Beloved, Beloved, Beloved.' "Yâr, Yâr."
If you recall. Hani vardı ya, bir tanesi.
A singer who changed his songs from mere tunes to odes. Evet o, bütün hayatı boyunca söylediği türküleri o kafiye ile gazele çevirmişti, naata çevirmişti:
God is the Beloved; God is the Beloved; God is the Beloved. "Allah yâr, Allah yâr, Allah yâr, Allah yâr."
The others are strangers. Gayrısı ağyâr.
'God is the Beloved.' Allah yâr.
'I used to think that in this world nothing amicable to me has remained. "Ben sanırdım âlem içre bana hiç yâr kalmadı
I abandoned myself; then I saw no stranger remained.' Ben, beni terk eyledim; gördüm ki ağyâr kalmadı."
This is from Niyazi al-Misri. Niyâzî-i Mısrî'den bu da.
'God is the Beloved.' Allah yâr.
God Almighty will never leave behind those who say, 'God is the Beloved', nor will he leave them without a friend.
If He is a friend, you will have no need to seek another friend. O (celle celâluhu) yâr ise şayet, siz artık başka hiçbir yâr arama sevdasına tutulmayacaksınız.
The Qur'an commands: Ayet-i kerimede buyuruluyor:
'The believers have truly reached salvation' (Al-Mu'minun 23:1). "Mü'minler, gerçekten kurtuluşa ermişlerdir" (Mü'minûn, 23:1).
'Qad' is a letter of affirmation; it means 'You should have no doubt'. "Kâd", harf-i tahkiktir; "hiç şüphesiz, kat'î, aklınıza yanlış bir şey gelmesin" demektir.
'The believers have truly reached salvation.' "Şüphesiz Mü'minler, kurtuluşa ermişlerdir."
Those that find God have reached salvation. Those that have found the path of the Glorious Prophet have reached salvation. Allah'a eren, kurtuluşa ermiştir; Hazreti Rasûl-i Zîşân'ın yolunu bulmuş olanlar, o şehrâha girmiş olanlar, kurtuluşa ermişlerdir.
Those who believe, who reach the degree of understanding; who have placed their bodily desires where they ought to be, who have placed their animalistic nature where it should be; those who have walked on the path of the heart and soul. İman edenler, iz'ân ufkuna ulaşanlar; cismâniyeti koyacakları yere koyanlar, hayvaniyeti koyacakları yere koyanlar; kalb ve ruha müteveccih yürüyenler.
They are the survivors. El-Müflihûn.
'They are the ones who are in a state of devotion in their prayers' (Al-Mu'minun, 23:2). "Onlar ki, namazlarında huşû içindedirler" (Mü'minûn, 23:2) diyor.
Look, this is important: Bakın, önemli:
They pray but not to show off, not to lie down and stand up, not something that is to be taken alongside anything of their culture; knowing exactly the essence of prayer, knowing that it is to stand in front of God Almighty, the notion of knowing that one is being watched by God Almighty.
First and foremost one must be heavily connected to the idea of 'being seen', so in a way you are able to see all that you can possibly see.
They are in a state of deep reverence and awe; they do it with a serious amount of respect.
Astonishment is when the heart of a person is in complete respect to God Almighty. Haşyet, insanın kalbinin o mevzuda Allah'a karşı duyduğu saygı.
And this respect, if it is sincere, is bursting, boiling like magma to mirror one's actions.
You stand before God in a state of complete and utter worship: Allah karşısında kemerbeste-i ubudiyet içinde duruyorsunuz:
'O my Lord! "Yâ Rabbi.
I find that this is not enough, You have commanded it; I wish to bend like a staff in front of Your grandeur.
I say, 'It is not enough'. 'Yetmedi.' diyorum.
When I straighten up and say, 'O our Lord, and to You be praise, much blessed and pure praise'.
And this too is not enough. Bu da yetmedi.
I looked and acted as if I felt Your Presence. Baktım, yine görüyor gibi davrandım.
I straight away go down in prostration before God. 'The point at which a servant is closest to God, the point of peak humbleness before God, is when his forehead is down in prostration.' Hemen yüzüstü yere kapandım." "Kulun, Allah'a en yakın olduğu ân, tevazuunun zirvesi sayılan, başını-yüzünü yerlere sürdüğü andır."
It was mentioned the other day: Geçen gün de dendi:
'Feet and head at the same level, "Baş-ayak, aynı yerde
Forehead kissing the prayer mat, Öper alnı, seccâde
For closeness to God, here is the road' İşte insanı 'kurbet'e taşıyan cadde."
The Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind says, 'The point at which a servant is closest to God is in the position of prostration.' "Kulun, Allah'a en yakın olduğu ân, secde ânıdır" buyuruyor Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-Enâm, Efendimiz, Efendiler efendisi.
Since you have become so close, in that moment and place pour out your heart to God; raise your hands and pray to him. Madem o kadar yaklaştınız, orada kalbinizden gele gele içinizi Allah'a dökün; el açın, içinizi Allah'a dökün.
He prays in such a way; look how great it is.
It is servanthood in the Name of God. Allah'a karşı yapılan bir ubudiyet.
However, fundamentally for that prayer to reach such a level, it is probably tied to something in some way. Fakat esasen o meselenin o hale gelmesi, o namazın öyle kılınması, belki bir yönüyle bir şeye bağlı.
The letter 'waw' that comes straight after this ayah is most likely a 'following-waw' as it comes straight after.
'And they who turn away from ill speech' (Al-Mu'minun, 23:3). "Onlar ki, boş ve yararsız şeylerden yüz çevirirler" (Mü'minûn, 23:3).
They always turn away from ill thoughts and improper conversation. Lağviyâttan hep yüz çeviriyorlar.
In some places there are improper or inconvenient murmurs; they clog their ears and don't hear a word. Bir yerde nâ-sezâ, nâ-becâ hırıltılar oluyor; kulak tıkıyorlar onlara.
In those improper matters they consider speaking to be a waste of words; in one way they consider it to be a waste of thoughts. O mevzuda söz etmeyi israf-ı kelâm sayıyorlar; i'mâl-i fikirde bulunmayı -bir yönüyle- düşünce israfı sayıyorlar.
They say, 'never mind', 'they have acted in accordance with their character; we must not pay attention to what they say or think.' "Boş ver" diyorlar, "Karakterinin gereğini sergiledi; onların yazdıkları, çizdikleri, attıkları, tuttukları şeylere, kulak tıkamak lazım."
If attention is not given to them, then the tongue too also see any extra words being uttered as waste: Onlara kulak tıkanırsa, dil de o mevzuda harekete geçmeyi israf sayar:
It will say, 'I need to be loyal to my friend (the ear); since the ear has clogged itself, I need to do this too.' "Ben arkadaşıma (kulağa) karşı vefalı olmalıyım; madem kulak kapısını tıkadı, ben de böyle yapmalıyım" der.
If those lips must move though, it should move in conveyance of the Name of God.
One should say, 'There is no deity but God, 'Glory be to God, All praise be to God, as much as God's knowledge and wisdom'. "Lâ ilâhe illallah" demeli, "Sübhânallah" demeli, "Elhamdülillah" demeli, لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللهُ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ، اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، بِعَدَدِ عِلْمِ اللهِ، بِعَدَدِ مَعْلُومَاتِ اللهِ demeli.
These can be said and made use of. Demeli ve böylece denecek şey değerlendirilmeli.
Yes, this way we close the doors and lock them with latches to thoughtless and improper conversation.
When thoughtless and vain thoughts come to mind it is said, 'Do not force it. Lağvî düşünceler geldiğinde, "Hiç zorlamayın.
God willing you won't be able to break down the door or enter this mind or even influence its concentration of thought.'
Look, what comes after that? Bakın ondan sonra ne geliyor?
According to Imam Shafii 'waw' is the meaning of following. İmam Şâfiî'ye göre "Vâv" yine takip manasına.
The Hanafi school definitely uses the letter 'waw' as coming together so 'All of them can be studied within the same category'. Hanefiler, "Vâv"ı mutlak cem' için kullanıyorlar ki, "Hepsi aynı kategoride mütalaa edilebilir" demektir.
Let us focus here on the very important, great Imam Shafi's words in reference to the following verse.
'They are in constant effort to give alms and purify their own selves and wealth' (Al-Mu'minun, 23:4). "Onlar ki, zekât için çalışırlar" (Mü'minûn, 23:4).
At the same time, they are active in the operation of alms giving; they fulfil their alms giving through their actions. Like in 'Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds' (Al-Kahf, 18:107). Onlar, aynı zamanda zekât ameliyesini yaparlar; o işi aksiyon/fiil halinde yerine getirirler.
You could say: Şöyle diyebilirsiniz:
The word 'Failun', the active participle functioning as the subject, denotes continuation and steadfastness. "Fâilûn" kelimesi, ism-i fâil olduğundan dolayı devam ve sebata delalet eder.
The expression of 'Li'z-zakati (of purification works)' comes to mean not only one thing, but the many different ways in which one can give alms; not only from their wealth but also from their thoughts, from their different forms of capital and opportunity, from their knowledge, their distinguished works and books.
They give. Verirler.
They will always be involved in the act of 'giving'. Hep bu "verme" faaliyeti içinde bulunurlar.
Because the 'active subject' denotes continuation and perseverance. Çünkü "ism-i fâil" devam ve sebata delalet eder.
Now, 'And they who turn away from ill speech' has come before 'And they who are observant of charity'.
First comes turning away from thoughtless and improper conversation. Önce lağviyattan yüz çevirmek.
Thus, first 'leaving what is forbidden' comes, and then 'enjoining good' comes. Demek ki evvelâ "terk-i menâhî", ondan sonra "emr-i ma'rûf" geliyor.
On the other hand there is enjoining what is forbidden, and holding people back from what is good, which is explained amongst the attribute of a hypocrite in the great Surah At-Tawbah: Bir de münkeri emretmek ve aynı zamanda maruftan insanları alıkoymak var ki, Tevbe sûre-i celîlesinde, münafıkların sıfatı olarak anlatılıyor:
'The hypocrites, both men and women, are all alike "Münafık erkekler de, münafık kadınlar da birbirinin (tamamlayıcı) parçasıdırlar (hepsi birbirine benzer).
They encourage what is evil, forbid what is good, and withhold what is in their hands. Onlar kötülüğü (küfrü, me'âsîyi) emrederler, iyilikten (imandan, tâatten) vaz geçirmeye uğraşırlar, ellerini (cimrilikle sımsıkı) yumarlar.
They neglected (disobeyed) God, so He neglected them. Onlar Allah'ı unuttular (Ona tâati bıraktılar), O da onlara unutma muamelesi yaptı.
Surely the hypocrites are the rebellious' (At-Tawbah, 9:67). Şüphesiz ki münafıklar fâsıkların ta kendileridir" (Tevbe, 9:67).
Some more than other. Bazısı, bazısından.
But they are all alike. Al onu, ona vur; onu da ona vur.
In terms of character, in terms of thought, they are all alike. Karakter bakımından, düşünce bakımından, al onu ona vur, onu ona vur.
When you see one, and then another, you may think to yourself, 'Good gracious! Birini gördüğün zaman, diğerlerine baktığında, "Allah Allah.
It's as though they are products of the same factory.' Aynı fabrikadan çıkmış gibi şeyler bunlar."
As though they have been knit by the same hands, in terms of their spirit and carnal soul. Aynı elin örgülediği varlıklar gibi; ruh dünyaları itibarıyla, nefis dünyaları itibarıyla.
They command what is forbidden by God. Onlar, münker ile emrederler.
And they forbid what is commanded and encouraged by God. Maruftan da nehyederler.
Then, the Qur'an expresses their character in the following verses that begin with 'God has promised the hypocrite men and hypocrite women' and 'Like those'.
It depicts their general characters in both verses.
Below, what comes after that? Altta, ondan sonra ne geliyor?
Look, first of all that attribute of evil, of negativity, of hypocrisy is mentioned and after being said, 'Stay away from it', 'The believers, both men and women: they are guardians, confidants, and helpers of one another.
They enjoin and promote what is right and good, and forbid and try to prevent the evil, and they establish the Prescribed Prayer in conformity with its conditions, and pay the Prescribed Purifying Alms. They obey God and His Messenger. Bunlar (insanlara) iyiliği emrederler, (onları) kötülükten vaz geçirmeye çalışırlar, namazı dosdoğru kılarlar, zekâtı verirler, Allah'a ve Rasûlüne itaat ederler.
They are the ones whom God will treat with mercy. İşte bunlar o kimselerdir ki, Allah onları rahmetiyle yarlığayacaktır.
Surely God is All-Glorious with irresistible might, All-Wise' (At-Tawbah, 9:71). Çünkü azîzdir (va'd ve vaîdini yerine getirmekten hiçbir şey Onu acze düşüremez), hakîmdir (her şeyi yerli yerinde, hikmetle yapandır)" (Tevbe, 9:71).
It states, in relation to the hypocrites, that some are close friends with each other.
He holds his hand, directs his sight; takes him to the route he should take; He is his confidant, companion, comrade. Elinden tutar, bakışını yönlendirir; yürümesi gerekli olan yola yönlendirir; dostudur, refikidir, yoldaşıdır onun.
So what happens at this point? Ee böyle olunca, ne olur?
They enjoin and promote what is right and good and forbid and try to prevent evil. Allah'ın hoş gördüğü ve emrettiği şeyleri emrederler. Kötülüklerden vaz geçirmeye çalışırlar.
Let us finish with a understanding of one of the consequent verses: Sonraki ayetlerden birinin fezlekesiyle bitirelim:
'They are those for whom is all good, and they are those who are the prosperous' (At-Tawbah, 9:88). İşte gerçekten felaha erenler, kurtuluşu garanti edenler, bunlardır" (Tevbe, 9:88).
They are equally successful as those mentioned earlier. Evet, (felaha erme ortak noktasında) قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ile birleşti.
This will suffice you. Vesselam.
