Intentions, Migrations and their Fruits

The first Prophetic tradition in Bukhari is about intentions, its narrator is the Honourable Umar and it became well-known during the times of Yahya ibn Said al-Ansari. Buhârî'nin birinci hadisi, niyet ile ilgilidir; râvîsi de Hazreti Ömer'dir; Yahya İbn Saîd el-Ensârî döneminde iştihar eden bir hadistir:
'Actions are judged by intentions, and a person will be rewarded according to the intention. "Ameller (başka değil) ancak niyetlere göredir ve kişinin niyeti ne idiyse, karşılık olarak onu bulur.
Thus, if someone's emigration is to gain the pleasure of God and His Messenger, then his emigration will be accepted as that.
Whoever emigrates for some worldly gain which he can acquire or a woman he will marry, then his emigration is for that for which he emigrates.'
The wording of the statement seems to indicate it came later.
Did God's Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, say this in the early days?
When analysing the structure and the context of this tradition it is clear that it was said during the time of emigration.
Everybody emigrates for the sake of God but, Herkes Allah için hicret ediyor; fakat.
There are two aspects to it. Hicretin iki yanı var:
Firstly, because they were not given the opportunity to do the things they were meant to and secondly they were not given a right to live.
Those who joined God's Messenger in the early days of his Prophethood emigrated with him. Şimdi, Efendimiz (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) ve saff-ı evveli teşkil edenler beraberce hicret ediyorlar.
Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali, those who never left the side of God's Messenger. Yani, Hazreti Ebu Bekir, Hazreti Ömer, Hazreti Osman, Hazreti Ali ki zaten Efendimiz'den ayrılmıyordu.
With them are early Muslims like Ammar and Bilal. Onlarla beraber, Ammâr gibi, Bilâl-i Habeşî gibi kadîm Müslümanlar.
The Qur'an calls them the 'First and Foremost'. "Sâbikûn-i Evvelûn" diyor Kur'an-ı Kerim bunlara.
They are linked to God's Glorified Promise in the Chapter at-Tawbah from the Qur'an. Allah'ın va'd-i Sübhânîsi de onların kâmetleriyle mebsûten mütenasip ifade buyuruluyor, Tevbe sûre-i celîlesinde.
They emigrated with our noble Prophet. Onlar, Efendimiz ile beraber hicret ediyorlar.
Because they were oppressed and did not have the right to live there, God commanded them to migrate. Onlara orada hakk-ı hayat tanınmadığından, çok ciddî baskılara maruz kaldıklarından dolayı, Allah (celle celâluhu) hicreti emrediyor.
Emigration... Hicret.
To abandon one's home. Yurdu/yuvayı terk etme.
To let go of everything one owns. Sahip olduğu şeyleri terk etme.
To let go of everything that's familiar and to face homesickness. Alışageldiği şeyleri terk etme ve kendini bir dâussıla çağlayanı içinde bulma, burun kemiğinin sızlaması.
God's Messenger is like the spiritual twin of the Ka'ba, his separation from his twin saddened him greatly, even though he was in total submission to God.
While leaving Mecca, he turned back and started crying: Oradan ayrılırken geriye dönmüş, hıçkıra hıçkıra ağlamıştı:
'If they had not pressured me to leave, I would not have left.' "Çıkarmasalardı, Bana bu denli baskıda bulunmasalardı, ayrılmazdım Ben" demişti.
Yes this is how most of the people left Mecca with God's Messenger.
They were denied their right to live. Onlara orada hakk-ı hayat tanınmıyordu.
Those who oppressed them were ignorant about justice, disregarded one's rights, and followed the path of tyranny. Onlara bu zulmü reva görenlerin -zaten- adaletten haberleri yoktu, hakkı hiç bilmiyorlardı; zulüm, şiârları idi.
In periods following this, similar things occurred.
Nothing changed. Değişen bir şey olmamış.
But there were also those who remained behind but couldn't perform their religious duties; they were not given the opportunity to do so.
Similar to what we are experiencing today was taking place, people forced to hide.
They couldn't pray openly, couldn't command good and forbid evil, and couldn't carry out their duties within society. Rahat namazını kılamıyor, açıktan açığa insanlar içinde emr-i bi'l-maruf, nehy-i ani'l-münker yapamıyor; içtimâî hayat içinde kendisine terettüp eden vazifeleri bihakkın yerine getiremiyor.
When the Qur'an mentions this in a balanced manner, it appreciates the migrants and treats them with great respect; while also mentioning those who remained behind and couldn't live their lives as they were supposed to.
The Qur'an addresses those who remained behind in an almost critical tone, saying, 'You didn't migrate even though God's earth is vast. You could have performed your Prayers, fasted comfortably, gone on pilgrimage, and commanded good and forbidden evil.' "Ee Allah'ın arzı geniş idi, niye hicret etmediniz oradan; namazınızı kılardınız, orucunuzu tutardınız, hacca da giderdiniz, emr-i bi'l-maruf da yapardınız, nehy-i ani'l-münker de yapardınız" demek suretiyle, bir yönüyle "tevbih" (ayıplama, kınama) edâlı bir "te'dîb"de bulunuluyor onlara.
For this reason, migration has such an aspect.
There are two reflections to this: Bu iki düşünceye bağlı:
'We do what we need to do with sincerity.' Bir, "Yapmamız gerekli olan şeyleri hâlisâne yapalım."
'We are denied our right to live here; we can live freely elsewhere, with God's permission.'
This emigration took place with God's direction. Ki Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın yönlendirmesiyle oldu zaten o.
Everyone was migrating with our noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
As mentioned before, 'If a person emigrates to God and His Messenger, his emigration is indeed to God and His Messenger.'
So, his emigration has meaning in the sight of God and he gets rewarded like those who emigrated with the Messenger of God.
If one emigrates 'for the sake of worldly desires', and says, 'Let me go; I may earn more elsewhere, I can make investments in other places,' his emigration is for that desire. Bir insan, "Dünya elde edeyim" diye hicret ediyorsa, "Gideyim; başka yerde daha ciddî kazançlarım olabilir, yatırımlar yapabilirim ben orada" diyorsa, onun hicreti de onadır.
Also let me mention this as a side note: Bu arada, antrparantez olarak arz edeyim:
There may not be any defect to thinking this way as long as you have a noble ideal.
Some time ago, people said, 'Let's go abroad and take part in service, make investments in this regard; build schools, establish universities, with God's permission.' Yani, belli bir dönemde, "Gidelim yurtdışına, orada olup biten hizmetlere destek olalım, bunun için yatırımlarda bulunalım; onları bakıp görelim, okullar yapalım, üniversiteler açalım, Allah'ın izni-inayetiyle" dendi.
There is no harm in this. Bunda da bir mahzur yok.
But migrating purely for the sake of the carnal soul, thinking of earning worldly benefits, whatever you desire, that determines your value. Ama sırf nefisleri adına "Dünyayı elde edelim" diye hicret ediyorlarsa, neye talip iseler şayet, işte o, onların kıymet-i harbiyelerini, kâmet-i bâlâlarını belirliyor.
You display your own value with what you seek and desire.
However much what you seek is worth, that determines your value, if you seek copper, that is your value, however, the one who seeks gold has a golden soul.
While you can migrate for the sake of God, His Messenger and religion, some migrate for the sake of worldly things that they have developed affection for.
Actually, you cannot call that 'affection'; it is desire of the flesh, weakness of humanity and ardent physical longing. Esasen ona "muhabbet" denmez; beşerî zaaf, garîze-i beşeriye, cismanî bir aşk u iştiyak.
For that reason, he migrates to reach someone.
And that is what he will gain. Onun nasibine düşen de odur.
For something so small and narrow, he undergoes so much hardship.
Briefly, this is what the tradition explains. Hadis, kısaca bunu ifade ediyor.
But when you examine the tradition, it is very comprehensive.
Events take place not in accordance to 'sameness' but according to 'similarities'. Hani, "Hadiseler misliyet çerçevesinde cereyan ediyor" dedik, "ayniyet" çerçevesinde cereyan etmesi mümkün değil.
Because 'time' is the best interpreter of events. Çünkü "zaman" bir müfessir; o, mutlaka kendi yorumunu işin içine katıyor.
You see its interpretation like patterns in lacework. Desende ona ait çizgileri görüyorsunuz; dantelada ona ait çizgileri görüyorsunuz.
Conjuncture has a decisive aspect her as well; and it is also present in the patterns of events.
That is, in the pattern of life you have designed, the activity pattern, the patterns of objectives and desires, are shaped by these. Yani, sizin örgülediğiniz hayat desenine, faaliyet desenine, gâye-i hayal desenine aksediyor onlar, bir yönüyle.
Events flow in 'similarities'. Misliyet çerçevesinde cereyan ediyor hadiseler.
And today, when you do something according to your own path, they do not allow you to breath.
Therefore from a place like this, there is an opportunity for migration in order to live according to your belief, for the sake of God.
So, according to the Prophetic tradition on emigration and intentions, this makes sense. Bu, işte o "niyet hadisi"ndeki manaya irca edilebilir:
'The intention of a believer is better than their deeds.' "Mü'minin niyeti, amelinden hayırlıdır."
You made such an intention, and they cut you off.
But you will get the reward for your intention.
Let us say that sacred migration rewards you with setting up a marquee in the heart of Paradise.
You also began walking out of Mecca, but they cut your path; you struggled but they did not give you that opportunity.
As experienced by the noble Khalid's brother, the noble Walid, they chained you up. Hazreti Hâlid'in ağabeyi Hazreti Velid gibi, getirdi, zincire vurdular.
He was in those chains for years. They placed his food, his water, whatever he needed in front of him so he would not join in sacred migration. O senelerce o zincirin içinde kaldı, hicret etmemesi için; yiyeceğini önüne koydular, içeceğini önüne koydular, ihtiyaçlarını önüne koydular.
He became firm and steadfast in his religion. O, dininden dönmemede sâbit kadem oldu.
May God Almighty grant us to them. Cenâb-ı Hak, bizi, onlara bağışlasın.
Those who saw this oppression to be acceptable were perverse in their obstinacy. They insisted in their, forgive me, bigotry.
I believe it also had a long-term effect on the Honourable Khalid, for he later came to the luminous city of Medina.
Yes he 'came' there. Upon meeting the Pride of Humanity and his spiritual hue, he became the 'Noble Khalid.' Ona "geldi" denir; İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu ile tanışınca, O'nun insibağı ile birden bire "Hazreti Hâlid" oldu.
As a side note, when I send peace and blessings upon the Companions of Badr, I recite his name amongst them. Kıtmîr -antrparantez- Ashâb-ı Bedir'i okurken, "Hâ" harfinde onu da sayıyorum.
The Noble Khalid is not from the Companions of Badr but I have included him many times.
For when you look at the things he has done, if an ounce of it were to be distributed to the whole of humanity, it would be enough for them to enter Paradise. Çünkü yaptığı şeylere bakınca, hakikaten zerresi bütün bir millete taksim edilse, Cennet'e girmeleri için yeter; yaptığı şey, öyle.
And when he rested his eyes and walked towards the horizon of his spirit, he left behind in this world only the sword he used in battle, his shield and his horse.
He was the child of a wealthy family, but this was all he left behind.
Now some may intend to do as such but before they have the opportunity to realise their intentions, they are cut off, chained up and cannot leave. Şimdi bazıları böyle niyet ediyor fakat o niyetini realize etmeden, önü kesiliyor, zincire vuruluyor, prangaya vuruluyor ve gidemiyor dolayısıyla.
But what is their goal? Ama hedeflediği şey nedir?
To be together with the Messenger of God. Rasûlullah ile beraber olmak.
They know that to be with the Messenger is in one way is to attain the company of God.
These people kept their intentions so sacred and have their reward, but have not been able to actualise these intentions. They could not complete the journey they set off on, they could not realise sacred migration. Şimdi bu insanlar, niyetlerini öyle ulvî tuttuklarından dolayı, o niyetin mükâfatını görüyorlar ama realize edememişler, çıktıkları yolu tamamlayamamış, hicreti realize edememişler.
Today there are people migrating to other countries perhaps to live their religion, or because their home country does not provide them with the right to humane life, or does not protect their lives within the framework of the right to life. Bugün başkaları da -belki- dinlerini yaşamak için veyahut orada kendilerine insanca yaşama hakkı tanınmadığından ve adalet çerçevesi içinde hakk-ı hayatlarını kullanma, korunması gerekli olan şeyleri koruma imkânı verilmediğinden dolayı, başka ülkelere hicret ediyorlar.
It is such that, even countries that may have once been known as the enemy have opened their arms with the disposition of not turning any person away, and embraced them.
They provide access to their harbours, grounds and wharfs. They said, 'You can go wherever you need to with airplanes or with ships.' Limanlarını kullandırıyorlar, meydanlarını kullandırıyorlar, rıhtımlarını kullandırıyorlar; "Uçak ile gidebilirsiniz, gemi ile gidebilirsiniz; gideceğiniz yere gidebilirsiniz" diyorlar.
But most of them are caught on their way and arrested; they are abandoned in forests and sometimes killed. Fakat çoğu, yolda yakalanıyor, derdest ediliyor; ormana bırakılıyor, öldürülüyor bazen.
There are countless people being killed. Öldürülen insanların hadd ü hesabı yok.
Some drown in the Evros river; there are countless people who have drowned there.
They have either fled from Syria or Turkey, these numbers are unknown. İster Suriye'den kaçanlar, ister Türkiye'den kaçanlar, hadd ü hesabı yok bu insanların.
They put forth their worth depending on what they aim for. Fakat hedefledikleri şey itibarıyla, esasen neye talip iseler, onunla kendi kıymetlerini ortaya koymuş oluyorlar.
They do not chase after simple things. Çok basit şeylerin arkasına düşmüyorlar:
They say, 'Let us migrate and live our religion. "Hicret edelim, dinimizi yaşayalım.
Let us migrate and let us show our values, the major and minor faculties of Islamic life, with the language of representation. Hicret edelim, bize ait değerleri, edille-i şer'iyye-i asliyeyi, edille-i şer'iyye-i fer'iyeyi hal ve temsil diliyle bütün dünyaya gösterelim.
Islam in the world is not how ISIS, Boko Haram, Al-Mourabitoun or some of the Salafis portray it to be. Yeryüzünde Müslümanlık IŞİD'in anladığı gibi, Boko-Haram'ın anladığı gibi, Murâbıtîn'in anladığı gibi, bir kısım Selefîlerin anladığı gibi değil.
There are these and also those who welcome everyone.
Let us go and sail off to all four sides of the world; in a way, let us explain it with tongue of disposition and representation.
Let us show them that the darkness they associate with Islam is not what they presume it to be.' El-âleme, kapkara gördüğü Müslümanlığın onların zannettikleri gibi olmadığını gösterelim" diyorlar.
In a way, this is a manner appropriate to the will of the Almighty God; and in a way, a matter that will give extreme delight and gratification to the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind.
They desired such a huge thing. Böyle büyük bir şeye talip olmuşlar.
They will receive its reward. Onlar, onun mükâfatını alırlar.
You cannot reach the bodies of those who drowned fleeing oppression, but the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind would have opened the door for them and welcomed them inside. Meriç'te cesetlerine ulaşamamışsınızdır fakat ruhlarının ufkuna ulaştıkları yerde, Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-Enâm tarafından -zannediyorum- kapının anahtarı -kendi eliyle- bükülmüş, onlar içeriye "Buyurun" edilmiştir.
'Come in', they would have been welcomed inside. "Buyurun" edilmiş, alınmışlardır içeriye.
Because they had aimed for Him, peace and blessings be upon him. Çünkü O'nu (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) hedeflemişlerdi.
They had started this journey towards realising what he had said. O'nun dediğini realize etme istikametinde bu yola çıkmışlardı.
But there was no protection on that journey. Fakat yol emân vermedi onlara.
In a way, they became victims subjected to the perils of this journey. Onlar -bir yönüyle- "tarîkzede" (yolun azizliğine uğrayan kurbanlar) oldular.
What had happened in the past still occurs today.
They flee those locations due to the inability to comfortably practice their religion, not having the right to live, not receiving the rights to freedom, being denied humane treatment and oppressors discrediting them.
They are looking for a place to express themselves, this is why they are migrating around the globe. Kendilerini ifade edebilecekleri yerler arıyorlar, değişik yerlere hicret ediyorlar.
Those that were not given the right to live and express themselves in their own country, have been welcomed wholeheartedly. Kendi ülkelerinde kendilerine hakk-ı hayat tanınmayan insanlar, başka yerlerde hüsn-i kabul gördüler, bağra basıldılar, sineye basıldılar.
What will happen with God's permission and grace, for those whom display the beautiful things as if they are displaying it at an exhibition by virtue of their beauty?
Maybe He is moving you from one place to another due to the deprivations faced.
Once you experience a shock during the period you live in, you feel a sense of distress as if your nasal bones are stinging. İşin şokunu yaşadığınız dönemde bir ızdırap duyuyorsunuz, burnunuzun kemikleri sızlıyor.
However on the other hand, in a sense the things He makes us face, in a way, you are able to take a breath from the burden on your shoulders, and almost leave behind the difficulties you have faced. Fakat beri tarafta, Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın istihdam buyurduğu şeyler açısından -bir yönüyle- hep oksijen yudumluyor gibi oluyorsunuz, unutuyorsunuz -neredeyse- geride bıraktığınız şeyleri.
As a side note: Antrparantez:
A day will come, and maybe you will forget all this hardship with His permission and grace.
You will look back and explain this difficult period like we explained what happened on May 27, like we explained what happened on March 12, like we explained what happened in June and on February 28. 27 Mayıs'ta olanları bugün bizim anlattığımız gibi, 12 Mart'ta olanları anlattığımız gibi, Haziran'da olanları anlattığımız gibi, 28 Şubat'ta olanları anlattığımız gibi siz de bugünleri anlatacaksınız.
We all faced this cruelty. Hepsinde gadre uğramış insanlarız.
We explain these difficulties with a smile on our face, like an anecdote, just like the anecdotes of Zaloğlu Rüstem. Bunları anlatırken şimdi tebessüm ederek anlatıyoruz, birer fıkra gibi anlatıyoruz; Zaloğlu Rüstem'in fıkrası gibi anlatıyoruz bunları.
A day will come and you will explain the things that happened like this.
He will have us engage in good deeds to such an extent that, you will frame the desired objective of the Pride of Humanity, or you will realise the assigned objective in the eyes of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, are matching.
'My name is going to reach everywhere the sun rises and sets' "Benim nâmım, güneşin doğup-battığı her yere ulaşacaktır."
That is what your objective will be. Siz de onu yapacaksınız.
To spread the majestic name of Muhammad to every point on which the sun rises and sets. Güneşin doğup-battığı her yere nâm-ı celîl-i Muhammedî'yi götüreceksiniz.
A crucial point; the world is enlightened with Him. Çok önemli; cihan, O'nun ile aydınlanıyor.
Firstly; this could be 'believing' this. Bir, bu; doğrudan doğruya böyle "inanma" olabilir.
Secondly; your good character will impact them, creating an ideology that 'We can walk on a path with them', in this measure they will feel 'comfortable'.
Their comfort will reflect a mentality that these people will never stab us in the back, and are always straight forward.
We will never face rabid behaviour from them.
We will not be treated in the manner that we have seen in our home land, assaulting and manipulating everyone that comes across them. Kendi ülkemizde gördüğümüz gibi, önüne gelen herkese saldırma, herkesi zehirleme tavrı şeklinde bir şey görmeyiz.
All of this -in a way- these good deeds and gains are arranged by His mercy due to your pure intention.
Yes, the case of the intention having more rewards than the action itself, and this being a means to such blessings.
Also, without even realising, I mentioned it without disclosing much, there is the matter of kind acceptance.
We have been saying this all this time, you all have probably said it too: Şimdiye kadar deyip duruyorduk, siz de deyip durmuşsunuzdur:
'Assuredly, those who believe and do good, righteous deeds, the All-Merciful will assign for them love (in the hearts of the inhabitants of the heavens and many on the earth, so that they will receive welcome throughout creation, no matter if they are weak and small in number now)' (Maryam, 19:96). "Rahmân, iman edip imanları istikametinde sağlam, doğru, yerinde ve ıslaha yönelik işler yapanlar için (gök ve yer ehlinin gönüllerinde) bir sevgi var edecektir (de onlar her tarafta kabul göreceklerdir)" (Meryem, 19:96).
They came to faith and they connected their hearts with Almighty God on the horizon of realisation. İman ettiler, kalbleri ile iz'ân ufkunda Cenâb-ı Hakk'a bağlandılar.
Then they started doing good deeds. Sonra amel-i sâlih yaptılar.
They ran after good deeds in a flawless, seamless and non-hypocritical way. Hep arızasız, kusursuz, riyasız amel-i sâlih arkasında koştular.
They acknowledged and supported their faith with action; in a way, this became their stance. İmanlarını aksiyon ile te'yîd ettiler, desteklediler; bir yönüyle onu, onun meşcereliği haline getirdiler.
They say, 'The All-Merciful'. Bunlar "Rahman" diyor.
God Almighty (may He be glorified and exalted) instils love towards them, into the hearts of everyone. Allah (celle celâluhu) bütün kalblere, onlara karşı bir sevgi vaz' eder.
So where ever they may go, these people will be welcomed with kind acceptance. Gittikleri her yerde hüsn-i kabul ile karşılanırlar.
The Qur'an says, 'The people will open up their chests and their hearts to them'. "Millet, onlara bağrını açar, sinesini açar" diyor Kur'an-ı Kerim.
Love, is something more than just conversation and affection, it is related to the heart; it is not an 'ardent longing', it is an attachment of the heart for those people, a necessary attachment.
Almighty God has placed this in many hearts around the world. Cenâb-ı Hak, dünyanın değişik yerlerinde bütün kalblere bunu atmış.
In some places, certain people have been manipulated with money or have misplaced their characters and thought they were 'Muslim', and therefore believed the things they said; those people have placed obstacles, are still placing those barriers, and will continue to place those barriers in our way. Bazı yerlerde, bazı kimseler ya para ile kandırıldılar veyahut birilerini yanlış tanımışlar da "Müslüman" zannediyorlardı, dolayısıyla dedikleri şeylere inandılar; onlar, bir kısım engeller çıkardılar, çıkarıyorlar, çıkaracaklar, çıkarmaya devam edecekler.
In a way, they are still portraying their malicious behaviour, and through certain detrimental actions and signals, are dirtying the neurons of people, and will continue dirtying them.
Because 'the satanic ones from among jinn and humanity' have always been the enemy of humans. Çünkü "şeyâtînü'l-insi ve'l-cin" her zaman insanın düşmanı olmuştur.
Yes, let us once again appeal to the observation of Bediüzzaman: Evet, burada yine Hazreti Pîr'in mülahazasına müracaat edelim:
'Numerous harmful obstacles appear before works of great good; Satan will be at war with the servants of this service!', meaning the ones who are at war with the servants of this mission, are the minions of Satan. "Umûr-i hayriyenin çok muzır mânileri olur; şeytanlar, bu hizmetin hâdimleriyle çok uğraşırlar" demek ki bu hizmetin hâdimleri ile uğraşanlar, şeytanlar.
When reading the verses from the Qur'an: 'My Lord! I seek refuge in You from the promptings and provocations of the devils (of the jinn and humankind, especially in my relations with people, while I am performing my mission). Siz, Kur'an'ın, "Rabbim, (bilhassa vazifemi yerine getirirken inkârcılarla olan münasebetlerimde ins ve cin) şeytanlarının kışkırtmalarından (ve birtakım duygularımı harekete geçirmelerinden) Sana sığınırım.
My Lord, we also seek refuge in You from them residing close to me and affecting and controlling me' (Al-Mu'minun, 23:97-98), you can say, 'My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the provocations of Satan, and make the following intention: Rabbim, yakınımda bulunup (beni tesir altına almalarından da) Sana sığınırız" (Mü'minûn, 23:97-98) ayetini okurken, "Rabbim, şeytanlarının kışkırtmalarından Sana sığınırım" deyip niyet edebilirsiniz:
'I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the satanic ones amongst the jinn and humanity like politicians, soldiers, intelligence officers, police officers, lawyers, administrators, ambassadors and devils of other professions.' "Sana sığınırım insî ve cinnî şeytanların şerlerinden; politikacı, asker, polis, istihbaratçı, hukukçu, mülki idareci, hariciyeci ve diğerleri gibi hayatın her biriminden olan şeytanların şerlerinden."
You can make the intention: Niyet edebilirsiniz:
My Lord! Allah'ım.
Protect us from being one of them. Onlar ile beraber olmaktan bizi muhafaza buyur.
God has already accepted your prayers previously and you were not with others and are where you currently are. Zaten Allah, önceden duanızı kabul buyurmuş da başkaları ile beraber bulunmamışsınız, şimdi bulunduğunuz yerde bulunuyorsunuz.
Thousands of praise and glorification be to God, He saved you from a tide, a current that was dragging you to Hell.
In one sense, you faced some obstacles, but in this path that you chose to take, you are moving towards God and the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind. Bir yönüyle belli sıkıntılara maruz kalmışsınız; fakat yürüdüğünüz yol ile Allah'a doğru yürüyorsunuz, Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-enâm'a doğru yürüyorsunuz.
And wherever you go, you are welcomed with 'love' and 'sincere affection'.
Foreign people present you the keys to their house and say, 'You can live in our house'. El-âlem evini barkını, anahtarlarını getirip veriyor "Bizim evimizde oturabilirsiniz" diyor.
An anecdote to give a short break: Dinlendirmek için bir misal arz edeyim:
What sort of affection do they show? Nasıl alaka gösteriyorlar?
There is a professor who moved to Canada, who is also a friend of mine of fifty years.
He says that he went to a pharmacy one day. "Eczaneye gittim" diyor.
He actually recounted this to us here: Burada bize anlattı:
'I went to the pharmacy and asked for a medication. "Eczaneye gittim, bir ilaç talep ettim.
The ingredients of the medication they gave me contained some harmful substances.
I said, 'Can I please request an alternative medication that does not contain these ingredients that are harmful to me.' 'Hayır, içinde bu maddelerin olmadığı aynı (muadil) ilacı istiyorum; bunun içinde muzır maddeler var.' dedim.
'The pharmacist looked at the shelves and said, "No, I don't have any others." Adam, baktı raflarına, 'Yok.' dedi, 'Onlar bende yok.' dedi.
And I said I cannot buy this medication then, Ben de 'Alamayacağım.' dedim.
and returned home. Eve döndüm.
I do not remember how long later, not long after, I received a phone call. The pharmacist took his number even though they met for the first time.
Look at the love set forth. Bakın, nasıl vüdd vaz' ediliyor.
The pharmacist said, "Sir, we found the medication you were looking for, in another pharmacy. "Eczacı, 'Hocaefendi, senin aradığın o ilacı, bir başka eczanede bulduk.
We do not know your address, is it possible for you to come and collect it?" Gelseniz; hani, biz sizin evinizi bilmiyoruz; gelseniz, o ilacı alsanız, burada.' dedi.
I went and bought it. Gittim, o ilacı aldım.
Instead of me being grateful for his action, he was so grateful and happy with my action and behaviour that I cannot explain.
On top of that, he called me later to express his gratification.'
For this reason, the pharmacist and maybe the doctor who prescribed the medication, and many others, Bu münasebetle, belki orada çalışan insan, belki o mevzuda yol gösteren o hekim, kim ise o, daha başkaları, daha başkaları.
had such a great interest that they formed unity and a choir of love all together. Böyle bir alakada bir birlik meydana getirdiler, bir oldular; beraber âdetâ bir sevgi korosu oluşturdular.
That person's heart warmed to them, or their hearts warmed to him; he set up a marquee in their hearts.
If wherever they go, they encounter such empathic conscientiousness, this is surely God's reward for sincere intentions.
In this respect, the real migrants are our noble Prophet, the Abu Bakr's, Umar's, Uthman's and Ali's and those following them. Bu açıdan asliyet planında hakikî muhacirler; Efendimiz (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem), Ebu Bekirler, Ömerler, Osmanlar, Aliler ve onları takip eden insanlar.
May our souls be sacrificed for the sake of them a thousand times; may God resurrect us alongside them. Canlarımız binlerce defa onlara kurban olsun; Allah, bizi, onlar ile beraber haşr u neşr eylesin.
May God join us at their table, make us their close companions. Sofralarında -O tabiri kullanmamışlar, ben kullanacağım, kusura bakmayın.- "sofranişîn" eylesin; inşaallah, postnişin eylesin.
May we share the same prayer rug. Beraber aynı seccadeyi paylaşalım.
I would not give up for the world, for instance, for the chance to be next to Abu Bakr, for him to sit next to me. Dünyalara değişmem ben şahsen, Hazreti Ebu Bekir ile beraberliği; şöyle azıcık yanımın ona dokunmasını, dünyalar ile değişmem.
If they offer me a worldly kingdom. Bana deseler ki "Dünyalar sultanlığı."
I would prefer that my shoulders touch his. Hazreti Ebu Bekir'in omuzu, omuzuma değsin benim, o kadar.
Again, in the words of Bediüzzaman, let me mention something as an aside. Evet, yine Hazreti Pîr'in ifadesi ile, antrparantez bir şey arz edeceğim:
There is an interest in death. Ölüme karşı bir alaka.
Death is a sweet thing. Ölüm, tatlı bir şey.
Necip Fazıl says, may his abode be Paradise, 'Death is a good thing, this is news from behind the curtain'. Üstad Necip Fazıl diyor ki, makamı cennet olsun, "Ölüm, güzel şey; budur perde ardından haber."
Instead of 'behind the curtain', I will call it news from the metaphysical realm.
If death was not good, would the Prophet have died? "Güzel olmasaydı hiç ölür müydü Peygamber?" diyor.
Bediüzzaman says: İşte, Hazreti Pir diyor ki:
In one of his writings Bediüzzaman points out that if the great guide, Imam Rabbani Ahmad Faruqi, had been alive during his lifetime he would have had to visit him, against all the odds. "Eğer İmam-ı Rabbanî Ahmed-i Farukî bugün Hindistan'da hayattadır diye ziyaretine bir davet vuku' bulsa, bütün zahmetlere ve tehlikelere katlanarak ziyaretine gideceğim.
Following on from this, the Ahmad of the Gospel, Ahyad of the Torah. Muhammad of the Qur'an, the Sun of Two Worlds, and millions of Ahmad Faruqis reside on the other side of the grave.
Why do we not hurry to visit them? Onların ziyaretlerine gitmek için niye acele etmiyoruz?
It would be a mistake to remain behind. He lived four centuries ago, a reviver of faith, having come at the beginning of the second millennium after the migration. Geri kalmak hatadır" dört asır evvel yaşayan, Hicrî ikinci binin başındaki müceddid, müceddid-i elf-i sânî.
If they announce Imam Rabbani is alive in India right now. "Deseler ki İmam Rabbanî hazretleri, Hindistan'da hayatta."
I believe when he said this, Pakistan and Bangladesh had then not been separated. He says he would have visited, notwithstanding the difficulty of the journey. Herhalde bunu dediği zaman, daha Pakistan bölünmemiş, Bangladeş bölünmemiş. ".Ben, onca zahmete katlanarak o Hazret'in ziyaretine giderim" diyor.
Why do we not hurry to reach the proximity of Prophet Muhammad Mustafa, surrounded by thousands of Faruq as-Sirhindis, to be with them? Binlerce Fâruk-i Serhendîlerle muhât Hazreti Muhammed Mustafa'nın huzuruna, O'nunla beraber olmaya niye koşmuyoruz ki, neden koşmuyoruz ki?
He is the actual goal, the one we are trying to reach the company of. Hedef, O esasen; yanına varılacak da O'dur.
Consequently whatever it is that is sacrificed on that path is not a 'sacrifice', rather they are all a gain.
You are seeking something that is such a profitable trade and beneficial gain.
Maybe you are putting something out there, I use the word 'maybe', but the return you get is one hundred or two hundred fold.
'Remember My favour that I bestowed upon you, and fulfil My covenant (which I made with you through your Prophets), so that I fulfil your covenant' (Al-Baqarah, 2:40). "Verdiğiniz sözü tutun, bakın nasıl söz tutuluyormuş, Ben nasıl size verdiğim sözü tutacağım" (Bakara, 2:40).
Whatever you have given is as much as you; Whatever He gives, it is as proportionate and commensurate to His Greatness. Sizin verdiğiniz, siz kadar; O'nun (celle celâluhu) verdiği, O'nun azameti ile mebsûten mütenasip.
Those who formed the first row, have represented this duty in a primary sense. Saff-ı evveli teşkil edenler, asliyet planında o işi temsil ettiler.
There was no such thing up until that day. O güne kadar öyle bir şey olmamıştı.
They hadn't left their homes and country behind. Kendi yurtlarından/yuvalarından ayrılmamışlardı.
Their jobs were in place. İşleri yerinde idi.
In the winter they would trade in Yemen and Sheba; in the summer they would trade in Damascus. Kış günlerinde Yemen'e, Sebe'ye doğru ticaret yapıyorlardı; yaz günlerinde de Şam'a doğru yapıyorlardı.
Mecca had become a wealthy region. Mekke, zengin bir ülke haline gelmişti.
People from all four sides of the planet would run to the Ka'ba and in doing so would spend their wealth there. Dünyanın dört bir yanından koşan insanlar, Kâbe'ye geliyor, etek etek para döküyorlardı.
Whatever the Saudis today are earning, the Meccans of the day would earn the same. Bugün Suudluların kazandıkları şeyleri, o gün Mekkeliler kazanıyorlardı.
It was very difficult for one to leave such a prosperous trade centre to migrate; it was also unheard of.
Your experience today is the same; you too had never experienced anything like this.
You faced some afflictions but nothing to the extent that you see today. Belli mahrumiyetler olmuştu ama böyle olmamıştı.
I know of the 27th of May (1960) events. Ben 27 Mayıs'ı biliyorum.
They took me in once or twice; they threatened me once or twice, used derogatory terms. Bir kere, iki kere götürdüler; belki, bir-iki tehdit ettiler; "Lan, man" filan dediler.
Later he said, 'Go back to what you were doing. Sonra da "Ulan git işine be.
Why are you hassling us, wasting our time?' Bizi ne uğraştırıyorsun, meşgul ediyorsun" dediler.
The most difficult one was probably the 12th of March (1971). En ağırı belki 12 Mart'ta olmuştu.
March the 12th. 12 Mart.
They arrested our friends on the 30th of March; they arrested me on the 1st of May. 30 Mart'ta bizim arkadaşları almışlardı; 1 Mayıs'ta da Kıtmîr'i almışlardı.
For about five or six months. Beş-altı ay, belki beş-altı aydan biraz fazla.
But this was exclusive to only five or ten people. Ama beş-on insana münhasırdı.
But today they say, 'you have spoken to this person on the phone. Bugün ise, "Sen de telefonla konuşmuşsun.
You have greeted such and such person. Sen de falana selam vermişsin.
You visited so and so person at this time. Sen de falanı, falan zaman ziyaret etmişsin.
You were found carrying a dollar bill. Sen de üzerinde bir dolar bulundurmuşsun.
You used an application on your phone.
Therefore you have committed the same crime. Dolayısıyla aynı cürmü irtikâp etmişsin.
You too, you too, you too.' Sen de, sen de, sen de, sen de."
There are thousands upon thousands of people who are being treated unjustly with no rule of law and no justice.
And for this reason, this is the first time you are facing such trials, tribulations and afflictions. Bundan dolayı da başınıza ilk defa geliyor.
The shock of the event is very large. Hadisenin şoku çok büyüktür.
The Respected Companions were generally subjected to such great events throughout their time and age. Ashâb-ı Kiram, kendi dünyaları, kendi çağları itibarıyla öyle büyük hadiseye maruz kaldılar.
But did, I always humbly repeat myself, did the Pride of Humanity or those who were following him ever say, 'If only we did not abandon Mecca'?
Other than those who were given the duty to return, after Mecca was conquered nobody returned.
Some were given the duty to remain there; to teach, to read the adhan, to observe the prescribed Prayers, to be teachers for those in Mecca. Vazifelendirilenler oldu; orada kalsınlar, işin aslını/esasını onlara talim etsinler, ezan okusunlar, namaz kıldırsınlar, sağda-solda muallimlik yapsınlar diye.
Other than those who were given the duty to stay in Mecca, everyone else returned with our noble Prophet to the centre of civilisation; they returned to Medina. Vazifelendirmenin dışında herkes Efendimiz ile beraber yine efendilerin medeniyet merkezi beldesine avdet ettiler; Medine-i Münevvere'ye, "Medine"leşen "Yesrib"e avdet ettiler.
Consequently, they too lived a great shock. Dolayısıyla onlar da öyle bir şok yaşamışlardı.
Even though the migrants of today are not in the 'direct' or 'indirect' plan, they are living a sacred migration.
They are suffering. Izdırap çekiyorlar.
Maybe they are being exposed to and suffering more pain in their homelands than those who migrated from Mecca.
For years an official written accusation has not been put in place. Senelerden beri haklarında bir iddianame bile hazırlanmıyor.
The judgements given to them cannot be shown through laws and regulations. Haklarında hüküm verilene kanunlarda kanun maddesi gösterilmiyor.
The judges ask those above them: Soruyorlar yukarıya:
'How long should we punish them for?', to which they reply: 'Life time imprisonment is enough.' "Bunu ne kadar cezalandıralım?" "Ee bir müebbet verseniz olur" diyor.
For what reasons are you imprisoning them? Neye binaen bir müebbet veriyorsun?
'They made a phone call to so and so.' "Falan ile telefon görüşmesi yapmış."
'What about this person?', 'Two years of imprisonment will be enough', they will find many new excuses. Efendim, "Filan?" "Ona da iki müebbet iyi gelir" daha yeni şeyler bulurlar; bunlardan dolayı.
'You, during such time, attended so and sos event for remembering the birth of the Prophet.' "Sen, falan zaman vilâdet (Mevlit Kandili) münasebetiyle falanların aktivitesine iştirak etmişsin."
Now this is even a crime, remembering the birth of the Prophet. Bu bile suç şimdi, vilâdete iştirak.
'In such place there was a book fair, you helped sell these books and even bought some for yourself.' "Falan yerde bir kitap fuarı olmuş, bunların doğrudan ağırlığı varmış, sen o kitaplara bakmışsın, bazısını da eline almışsın."
'While searching your house, these books were found.' Efendim, "Senin evin aranırken, falanlara ait bir kitap çıkmış."
In the past, they would do this to the people whose houses contained books from The Risale-i Nur Collection; today they do this to some people, and not to others.
'Let's only molest some of them so that they can break apart amongst themselves, become divided.' "Bazılarına ilişmeyelim de bunlar kendi içlerinde parçalansınlar böyle."
This is another one of Satan's thoughts. Bu da şeytanın ayrı bir düşüncesi.
Satan is very professional; today he is using every form of evil that has been in existence from the time of the Prophet Adam to the present.
Consequently, Satan's minions are strongest in this era, the era of egotism, the era of conceit, the era of arrogance, the era of being applauded, and therefore for the smallest of events they mercilessly hand out punishments by saying, 'Take ten more years from him. Dolayısıyla şeytan avenesi bu çağda, enâniyet çağında, gurur çağında, kibir çağında, alkışlanma çağında, çok küçük şeylerden dolayı "Al, on sene daha ondan.
Take another ten years from him. Al, on sene daha ondan.
Take ten more years from him'. Al on sene daha ondan" deyip ceza yağdırıyorlar.
They are not content with anything they hand out, 'More, more, more, more.'
From a negative perspective, each one of them are heroes of 'Is there not more?' (!)
'Increase it a bit more, just some more, a little bit more.' Biraz daha artırın, biraz daha artırın, biraz daha artırın."
So much so that they started court cases for one person in thirty different places, and they want life sentences from each and every one.
No doubt, all of this is shocking. Bütün bunların bir şokunun olabileceği muhakkak, müsellem.
No doubt, we are being assaulted. Bir tekme yediğimiz muhakkak ve müsellem.
However, Ama
'Everyone in this world suffers in one way or another. "Herkese bir dert bu âlemde mukarrer
Has anyone lived comfortably in this life, from amongst the heard of know-it-alls.' Rahat yaşamış var mı, gürûh-i ukalâdan."
What befalls us is to show patience, and to know that even this came from God. Bize düşen şey, bütün bunlara katlanmak, "Allah'tan" demek.
'Whatever comes from You is fine, "Hoştur bana Sen'den gelen
Either a robe of honour or a shroud Ya hil'at yahut kefen
Either a fresh rose or thorn Ya taze gül yahut diken
Pleasant are both Your blessings and wrath.' Lütfun da hoş, kahrın da hoş."
'Pleasant is anything and everything from You. "Sen'den hem o hoş hem bu hoş.
We should treat everything that comes from God with a content heart. Hoş" deyip Cenâb-ı Hak'tan gelen her şeyi gönül hoşnutluğu ile karşılamak iktiza ediyor.
'The world is temporary, no one stays here, "Dünya geçicidir, burada kalınmaz
No matter how much you have, you will not be satisfied, Ne kadar mal olsa, murad alınmaz
Do not be heedless, there is no return Gafil olma sakın, geri dönülmez
Go on world, go on, desolation is at the end Yürü dünya yürü, sonun virandır
The rescue, from now is the end of days.' Meded, bundan sonra ahir zamandır."
They are chasing such an ephemeral thing. Öyle bir fâniye talip olmuş gidiyorlar ki.
As though they are going to live forever. Sanki ebedî kalacaklarmış gibi.
Again: Yine Hazret'in dediği gibi:
'A prominent facet of the time that we live in today is that it intentionally pushes one to prefer this transient world over the infinite life.' "Bu asrın bir hâssası şudur ki; hayat-ı dünyeviyeyi, hayat-ı bâkiyeye bilerek tercih ettiriyor."
This is the century of knowingly preferring the ephemeral over the everlasting. Bilerek dünya hayatını âhiret hayatına tercih etme çağı, bu çağ; bilerek dünya hayatını âhiret hayatına tercih etme çağı.
Whereas; Oysaki
'Behold through the eyes of wisdom, this world is but a guesthouse, "Çeşm-i ibretle nazar kıl, dünya bir misafirhanedir
No soul stays here for good, what a strange abode it is. Bir mukim âdem bulunmaz ne acîb kâşanedir
The share of a king and subject alike is nothing, but a plain shroud, Bir kefendir âkıbet sermayesi şâh u geda
What else then are those conceited ones but mad?'
The Honourable Aziz Mahmud Hudai also adds to this: Aziz Mahmud Hüdâî hazretleri, bu sese bir ses katıyor:
'Do not be deluded by this deceitful world "Yalancı dünyaya aldanma yahu
This association will disband and the council will close Bu dernek dağılır dîvân eylenmez
This is a ruin with two doors İki kapılı bir virânedir bu
Passers-by rest and leave, no one stays here.' Bunda konan göçer, konuk eylenmez."
It has only two doors. İkili kapılı.
And what a wreck it is. Hem de bir virâne.
He says, 'Passers-by rest and leave, no one stays here.' "Bunda konan göçer, konuk eylenmez" diyor.
The Imam of Alvar also adds: Alvar İmamı da ayrı bir ses katıyor buna ve diyor ki:
'This world is a strange traveller house, "Acib bir kârubân-hane bu dünya
Those who come are sure to leave, passers-by rest and leave from here. Gelen gider, konan göçer bu elden
No loyalty, no pleasure, a fleeting day-dream, Vefası yok, sefası yok, fani hülya
Passers-by rest and leave from here.' Gelen gider, konan göçer bu elden."
And on another occasion, he calls out as follows: Ve bir başka yerde de şöyle sesleniyor:
'In this tavern of suffering "Bu dert meyhanesinde
Who have you seen satisfied? Kimi gördün şaduman olmuş;
In this house of sorrows and tribulations Bu gam-hane-i mihnette
Who has found refuge from calamity? Beladan kim emân bulmuş.
This is a ruthless cycle Bu bir devvâr-ı gaddardır
Which eats up whoever it sees.' Gözü gördüğünü hep yer."
Those who wander around like the king of kings; tomorrow the earth will take them in, too, it will swallow them, too.
'This is a ruthless cycle "Bu bir devvâr-i gaddardır
Which eats up whoever it sees Gözü gördüğünü hep yer
Neither slave nor king Ne şah-u ne geda bunda
No individual lasts. Ne bir fert payidar olmuş.
So many lives, elegant and peaceful Nice servi revan canlar
So many rosy-faced sultans, Nice gül yüzlü sultanlar,
So many khans like Khusraw Nice Hüsrev gibi hanlar
Have been immersed in this sea. Bütün bu deryaya dalmış.
True skill is in drawing a lesson Hüner bir ibret almaktır
True skill is finding true knowledge; Hüner irfanı bulmaktır;
The skill is servanthood to The Truth Hüner Hakk'a kul olmaktır
Heedlessness has taken over this realm.' Bu gaflet âlemi almış."
However, come see, heedlessness has taken over this realm.
Almost everyone, the majority of people walk on a path blindly and in great difficulty, with their eyes closed, ears deaf and hearts in confusion. Hemen herkes, insanların çoğu, gözü kapalı, kulakları sağır, kalbi târumâr, körü körüne, düşe-kalka bir yolda yürüyor.
There is no need to talk about where they are headed to; it is certain where people like this will fall into. Nereye doğru gittiğini söylemeye gerek yok; böylelerinin yuvarlandığı yer, bellidir.
As for us, let us display what our characters ask of us. Ama biz, yine kendi karakterimizin gereğini seslendirelim.
And let me put a semicolon there, because there might be a need to turn back later on, more things can be said on this matter on another occasion; let us put a semicolon: Ona da bir noktalı virgül koyayım, çünkü daha sonra belki geriye dönme icap edebilir, bu mevzuda başka bir defasında başka şeyler de söylenebilir; noktalı virgül koyalım:
May God enlighten their hearts, too, with the lights of guidance.
May He show them, too, the horizon of becoming a true human being. Hakiki insan olma ufkunu onlara da göstersin.
May He show them, too, the evil form of tyranny, the animalistic form of tyranny, its form as a donkey and its form as a cobra. Zulmün şeytanca tavrını onlara da göstersin, hayvanca tavrını onlara da göstersin, hımarca tavrını onlara da göstersin, kobraca tavrını onlara da göstersin.
And may He direct them, too, into true humanity. Ve onları da gerçek insanlığa i'lâ buyursun.
This will suffice you. Vesselam.
