Gülen calls for prayers for Turkey
Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, who lives in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania, U.S., yesterday called on Müslim communities worldwide to pray against misfortunes and troubles, especially in Turkey, according to Herkul.org, a website close to the Gülen movement.
The leader of the Gülen movement called on all his followers to pray for an end to polarization in Turkey and recent fighting between militants and the military that has left scores dead.
In response to Gülen's call, the Religious Affairs Directorate in a written statement said "On Fridays and other religious occasions, authorities from the Religious Affairs Directorate and religious officials have been praying in our mosques for the prevention of possible dangers and [they] will always pray for these things."
