How is this integration into the networks of Hizmet Movement different from susceptibility and submission to the authoritarianism of some political movements?
The majority of participants in the Gülen Movement are already educated and come from positively acknowledged backgrounds. They are not misguided or inadequate individuals. They are not beguiled by a utopia, an authoritarian coercive leader, or by any attempt at defying authority to bring a regime change in Turkey.
The participants join the networks with the resolve that they can do something helpful for society and it can really work. The intention is altruistic rather than selfish; they are not trying to change the direction of the development of the System.
Furthermore, neither psychological nor political situational stress is the only necessary reason for joining a movement, and such stresses are not reflected in the patterns of participation in the Gülen Movement.
