How do the participants become so committed to the Gülen Movement?
Evidence shows that the more closely the individual is integrated into a group, the greater will be the degree of her or his participation. Participation is an expression of belonging to a certain social group, and the more secure the affiliation is, the more intense the participation. Then, the more intense the collective participation in a network of relations, the more rapid and durable will be the mobilization of a movement or its SMOs. This seems to be the case in the Gülen Movement’s service-networks. The Gülen Movement facilitates and thus increases an individual’s willingness to get involved in service-projects through her or his relationship with a larger group of like-minded, similarly intentioned people.
