The Whirlpool of Egotism
1. The trust of ego granted to humanity is a sacred gift given to us so that we can find and know the greatest truth. But this gift should be abandoned as soon as it has served its purpose. If not, the ego will become so big that one day it will swallow its owner. Taking it as a unit of comparison, we must, on one hand, know the Sublime Creator and the infinity of His Power, Knowledge, and Will. On the other hand, we must realize that He has nothing to do with any fault and deficiency. Given this, we will melt our ego in the fire of Divine knowledge and love. We will see with the Exalted Creator's existence, and think, know, and breathe with Him.
2. There are some whose egotism derives from knowledge, while in some others it appears because of wealth and power, or beceause they boast of their intelligence or beauty. As none of these attributes are our personal property, every claim is considered a vehicle for and an invitation to the true Property Owner's anger. Such claims have resulted in the destruction of these haughty spirits. [Criteria or Lights of the Way, 9th edition, Izmir, 1996, Vol.1, pp7.9-80]
