On the Path to Eternal Happiness

Patience, Faith, Knowledge and Love of God

Prophet Jacob once uttered the words 'Now what remains for me is to be hopeful and remain patient. Hazreti Yâkub (aleyhisselam), "Artık bana düşen, ümitvar olarak güzelce sabretmektir.
What can I say after what you have told me, it is God Whose help is sought against (the situation) that you have described' (Yusuf, 12/18). He begins with 'Patience'. Ne diyeyim, sizin bu anlattıklarınız karşısında, Allah'tan başka yardım edebilecek hiç kimse olamaz" (Yusuf, 12/18) sözüyle kapıyı aralıyor; "Sabır" diyor.
What he says happens. Evet, dediği oluyor.
God Almighty rewards him with Divine Blessings beyond the scope of his wants and desires.
Yes, those who turn towards God often face hardships and difficulties, but those who remain patient have always attained salvation, every single time. Evet, her zaman, Hakk'a müteveccih insanlar, değişik şeylere maruz kalmışlardır; fakat sabredenler, kurtuluşa ermişlerdir, her de fasında.
From the Prophet Adam, to the Prophet Noah, Abraham and Moses, to every other Great Messenger of God, and to the Sultan of the Messengers, peace and blessings be upon him, the same pattern of patience and salvation followed. Hz. Âdem'den Hz.{j}Nuh'a, Hz.{j}İbrahim'e, Hz.
With God's permission and grace. Allah'ın izni-inayeti ile.
Sometimes, because we cannot see the result of such difficulties, the initial shock confuses and occupies our thoughts.
Those without self-reflection are the point where they are complaining to God. Kendini bilmeyenler, Allah'a karşı şikâyet tavrına girmişlerdir.
Without considering their boundaries, they question God's Decree. Haddini bilmeyenler, kâmet-i kıymetini bilmeyenler, bir şeymişler gibi, kalkıp Allah'a karşı iddiada bulunurlar.
As a result, they end up losing in this world and the next. Böylece dünyayı kaybettikleri gibi âhireti de kaybederler.
Smart people, being mindful of the gains in the Hereafter say, 'We have already earned what was meant to be earned, Akıllı insanlar, âhireti kazanmışlık mülahazasıyla, "Nasıl olsa neticede kazanılması gerekli olan şeyi kazandık.
and even if we lose everything else, does it make a difference?' Onun berisinde her şeyi kaybetsek, ne önemi olur ki?" derler.
This is a statement of reality. İşte, hakikatin ifadesi, budur.
As the Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman says, 'The pleasures of this world resemble poisonous honey, its harm is more significant than its taste.' it can be deadly, may God protect us from it. Yoksa Hz. Pîr'in de ifade buyurduğu gibi, "Dünya lezzetleri, zehirli bala benzer, lezzeti nispetinde elemi de vardır"; acısı, insanı yiyip bitirmesi vardır, hafizanallah.
You must calibrate your steadfastness in patience and make decisions based on this. Kendi sabrınız, sabırdaki ikdâmınız, (ondaki kararlılığınız) açısından mülahazalarınızı kalibrasyona tâbi tutup ona göre hüküm vermeniz lazım?
'Whatever happens.' "Ne olursa olsun."
While keeping in mind that the Master is the All-Aware. Sâhib'inin (celle celâluhu) her şeyden haberdar olduğunu düşünerek.
'There is no need for me to defend my personal wellbeing. "Ben ne diye kendimi müdafaa etme gibi küçük işlere kalkışacağım.
My Lord knows whatever I am going through.' Benim her hâlimi bilen, Allah'ım var."
As some great personalities said, 'His (infinite) knowledge prevents me from asking some things.' Büyük zatların dedikleri gibi, "O'nun (celle celâluhu) ilmi, beni, bir kısım şeyler istemekten alıkoyuyor."
We can pluralise this and say 'His (infinite) knowledge prevents us from asking some things.'
In fact, if we don't have this consideration when we seek His help, I believe we become disrespectful to Him. Hatta deyip edeceğimiz şeylerin çoğunu, böyle bir mülahaza ile kafiyelendirmeyince, zannediyorum, Cenâb-ı Hakk'a karşı saygısızlık yapıyoruz.
Whatever you say, you should always conclude by saying, 'O God! You already know (what I seek). Ne diyorsanız deyiniz, mutlaka meseleyi getirip "Allah'ım, Sen zaten biliyorsun.
I wouldn't say these because You consider silence as a show of disrespect to Yourself.' Bunları benim söylemem, hani söylememeyi Kendine karşı Sen, küstahlık, terbiyesizlik saydığından dolayı."
A hadith mentions; 'One who does not pray draws the wrath of God.' "Dua etmeyen bir insana Allah gazaplanır" deniyor hadis-i şerifte:
The opposite of this: 'Ask.  Tam bunun zıddı da, "İste.
What you seek will surely be given to you.' İstediğin mutlaka verilecek" buyuruluyor.
From this perspective, we should always evaluate matters over and over and attribute them to 'The Infinitely Powerful One.' Bu açıdan, meseleleri evirip çevirip hep getirip o "Kudret-i Nâmütenâhî"ye (celle celâluhu) dayandırmak, O'na emanet etmek lazım.
A lot of the time, I choose to be silent as a show of my powerlessness, poverty, and weakness.
As it is said in some Anatolian dialects, I say, 'You know best'. Böyle Anadolu'da bazı kimselerin kullandığı ağızla, "Sen bilin" diyorum.
You know best, this is what I think: Bazı yerlerde kullanırlar bu tabiri "Sen bilirsin" yerinde, "Sen bilin" Şöyle düşünüyorsun:
'How can I tell you what You already know? "Ee ben, Sen'in bildiğin şeyi ne diye dillendireyim burada Sana karşı?
Wouldn't that be a waste of words? İsraf-ı kelâm olmaz mı Sana karşı?
You are the ultimate authority. Söz Sahibi, Sen'sin.
I don't know how to voice such things when addressing You. I'm just talking off the top of my head.
I'm being disrespectful to You'. Sana karşı saygısızlık ediyorum."
Therefore, sometimes you choose to be silent. Onun için bazen sükûtu tercih ediyorsun.
You shake your head and say, 'There is neither might nor power except in God'. Başını sallıyorsun, "Lâ havle ve lâ kuvvete illâ billah" diyorsun.
Say 'The true owner of power is God; everything that happens is by His permission and will. "Hakiki güç ve kuvvet sahibi sadece Allah'tır; olup biten her şey, ancak O'nun izni ve iradesi dahilinde gerçekleşir." "Hepsi Allah'tandır, de.
But how is it with these people that they do not grasp the truth of anything said (or anything that has happened)!
In relation to the people who are inconsiderate, who gossip without much thought, the Qur'an says this. Kur'an-ı Kerim, anlayışsız, acele güft ü gû eden insanları ta'n u teşnî sadedinde böyle buyuruyor.
One must be cautious to not fall into that situation. O duruma düşmemek için, temkinli olmak lazım.
Speaking the truth will resolve all problems, in times of conflict and comfort.  Problemi halledecek şey, acı ânda da tatlı ânda da hep doğrunun, hakkın/hakikatin tercümanı olmaktır, onu dillendirmektir esasen.
In time, this will be a lesson for these merciless people. Bugün olmasa yarın, o insafsız insanlara da bunlar aynı zamanda bir ders olacaktır;
They will say, 'Actually, this is the truth.' "Yahu işin doğrusu böyle demekmiş" falan, diyecekler onlar da.
That is why, without wasting our breath, we must always think the way our Lord wants to think, speak the way He wants us to speak and act the way He wants us to act.
Let's consider the pandemic. İşi getirelim şimdi salgına.
God has sent an affliction to all humankind. Cenâb-ı Hak bir belâ verdi insanlığa, topyekûn.
Is it because of oppression in a particular part of the world, or a result of the oppression many people are facing all over the world, we have come face to face with this common affliction, like some 'smoke' or 'flock of birds'.
He sent down a virus or sent down stones, he destroyed them (referring to Chapter Al-Fil).  Virüs attı veyahut da taş attı, çakıl taşı attı, kırdı-geçirdi onları.
During a certain period, God did that for safety. He did it so He could protect the Ka'ba. Belli bir dönem için esasen emniyet adına Allah yaptı onu; Kâbe'sini yıktırmadı, emniyet adına yaptı.
Following that, an atmosphere of safety was present. Antrparantez, bakın, ondan sonra güven atmosferi oldu.
Thus, the Chapter Al-Quraysh follows the Chapter Al-Fil. Nitekim "Elemtera"den (Fil Suresi) sonra "Li-îlâfî" (Kureyş Suresi) geliyor.
The Abyssinians lost out. Esasen Habeşler oradan koptular.
It is possible that they were under the effect of the Iranians, they were influenced by the Persians. Belki -İranlıların tesiri deniyor- onlar da o gün İranlıların tesirindeydi, Perslerin tesirindeydiler.
That route, in a way, became safe. O güzergâh bir yönüyle emîn hâle geldi.
'Let them worship the Lord of this House.' "Kureyş'in emniyetini sağladığı, yaz ve kış yolculuğunda onları ısındırıp yakınlaştırdığı için onlar, bu evin (Kâbe'nin) Rabbine kulluk etsinler.
'Who has fed them, (saving them) from hunger and made them safe, (saving them) from fear.' (The Chapter Al-Quraysh). Ki O (Allah) kendilerini açlıktan (kurtarıp) doyuran ve her çeşit korkudan güvenliğe kavuşturandır" (Kureyş Suresi).
When the All-Mighty destroyed them with the stones carried by birds, it was in fact a way in which safety was established.
That is why they were travelling back and forth during the summer and winter.
If we consider these issues in the light of the Qur'anic Commentary of Al-Biqai, this is how it is. Bikâ'î Tefsiri zaviyesinden, sureler arasındaki münasebetler içinde meseleye bakacak olursanız, böyle.
It seems this is the way in which it occurred. Böyle bir şey oldu o zaman.
So, based on all of the evil that is occurring across the globe, the injustice, cruelty, persecution and vice, did God send the birds of Ababil or a virus or plague?  Şimdi dünyanın her yerine, böyle çok yerinde işlenen, irtikâp edilen zulüm, mesâvî, me'âsî, mûbikât, mühlikât -bu son iki tabir İmam Gazzâlî'ye ait- dolayısıyla, Cenab-ı Hak, Ebâbil kuşu mu, yoksa virüs mü saçtı?
Or was it growing in a pool and was summoned to come forth onto the Earth?
Was a command such as 'These people have lost their right to live in a fair and peaceful manner, Bu insanlar, yeryüzünde doğru-dürüst, huzur içinde yaşama hakkını kaybettiler.
punish them' uttered? Cezalandırın bunları" mı dendi?
In occurred with God's command. Allah'ın emriyle oldu.
From our perspective, if these things have occurred because of our sins, we should sit and engage in repentance. Ee bize düşen şey, bizim günahlarımızdan dolayı olmuş ise, oturup kendi günahlarımıza istiğfar etmektir.
And not just by saying, 'I ask forgiveness from God' a few times, but by considering all our sins, both past, present and future, 'My God I ask forgiveness from you.
A thousand, hundred thousand, million times Hem de bin defa, yüz bin defa, milyon defa ediyorum.
Or even 'as many times atoms exist in the universe'.
The have said, 'Peace and Blessings based on the knowledge of the Divine Essence'. "Zât-ı Ulûhiyetin ilmiyle salât u selamlar" demişler de bunu dememişler:
I say, 'I ask forgiveness from God as much as the knowledge of God'. "Cenab-ı Hakk'ın ilmi ve malumâtı adedince estağfirullah" diyorum.
The pious predecessors never uttered this, I am wary to do so as well, but maybe this is what we should say, as it explains it clearly.
Yes, this is what we should say. Evet, demeliyiz.
The second is to engage in communal or public supplications to asking for the end of these afflictions.
'Just as almsgiving will fend off perils, the sincere prayer of the majority revokes grief.' "Ekseriyetin hâlisâne duası, ferec-i umûmîyi cezbeder."
This is what the Honourable Master Bediüzzaman says. Hazreti Üstad buyuruyor.
Coming together, hands raised together, standing together, in a unity of words and invocations, appealing to God saying, 'My Lord Evet, el ele, omuz omuza vererek, aynı zamanda dil birliği, ifade birliği içinde Cenâb-ı Hakk'a teveccüh ederek, "Allah'ım.
Please remove these trials and tribulations that we face. Bu belâ ve musibetleri sav üzerimizden.
Once again instil in us the discipline to worship You, to enjoy worshipping You. Bize ibâdet u tâat aşkını, neşesini tekrar lütfeyle.
Let us appeal to You in perfect attentiveness.' Sana teveccüh-i tâm içinde teveccüh edelim."
God willing, I hope we are doing this currently. İnşaallah, şimdi onu yapıyoruz.
We were doing that, were we not? Onu yapıyorduk değil mi?
Here, we recite The Imploring Hearts as much as possible; it used to be recited every two days. El-Kulûbu'd-Dâria, burada elden geldiğince okunuyor; iki günde bir bitiriliyordu o kitap.
It is twice as long as the Qur'an, we complete it regularly. Kur'an-ı Kerim'in ikisi kadar vardır, bitiriliyordu.
Previously, it used to be distributed to bigger crowds, perhaps completing it a single day. But now it is read in two days.
You can read other things as well. Daha başka şeyleri de okuyabilirsiniz.
I have such companions that have distributed the Salawat Tafrijiyah four thousand four hundred forty-four times amongst themselves and are reading it daily. Mesela ben öyle arkadaşlar biliyorum ki -birisi onun aleyhinde konuşmuştu, önemli değil- salât-ı tefriciyeyi, dört bin dört yüz kırk dört defa taksim etmişler aralarında, her gün okuyorlar.
Collaboration in good deeds concerning the Hereafter. İştirâk-i a'mâl-i uhreviye.
So, it is as if they have all read it in one day and it is recorded four thousand four hundred forty-four times in all of their record of deeds.  Evet, dolayısıyla bunların hepsi bir günde okunmuş gibi oluyor ve herkesin defter-i hasenâtına dört bin dört yüz kırk dört defa geçiyor.
Some read the Chapter An-Nasr, some read a certain amount of the Chapter Al-Fath and some read 'O God, bestow blessings and peace on our master Muhammad, his Family, and Companions.' Ee kimisi Nasr Suresi'ni okuyor; kimisi Fetih Sûresi'ni okuyor, belli bir miktarda Fetih Sûresi'ni okuyor; kimisi belli salât u selâmları okuyor, normal اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ de olduğu gibi.
I admire the invocation of Ibn Bashish (or Ibn Mashish), it is quite comprehensive and sincere.
Perhaps it is the sincerity of deep reverence in the face of the Divine Essence; his respect has a big impact on souls. Belki içtenliği esasen onun Zât-ı Ulûhiyet karşısındaki kemâl-i taziminden; onun saygısı, öyle ruhlarda büyük tesir icrâ ediyor.
Personally, I usually think of reading that one. İlle okurken, onu okumayı düşünürüm şahsen.
It can be easily memorised and read with God's permission and grace.
Yes, creating greenhouses against afflictions just like this and leaving it to grow and influence us. Evet, bunun gibi hep belâlara karşı böyle bir sera oluşturma, onların içimize nüfuz etmesine meydan vermeme.
Let us not see ourselves different than others while displaying such a demeanour, not to consider just a personal protection.
All humanity... Yekün icabında insanlık...
'O God! If You intend to punish them, You punish them. However, it is not easy to witness this punishment. "Allah'ım, bunları cezalandıracaksan, Sen cezalandır; ee dünyada bunların cezalandırılmasına tahammül edemiyoruz."
When there was famine, did God's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) not pray for them as well?
A draught broke out, people were destitute. Kuraklık oldu esasen, insanlar âh u vâh ediyorlardı;
The same thing happened during the time of the Honourable Umar. aynı şey bir de Hz. Ömer efendimiz devrinde yaşandı.
When you look at his intimate conversations with God, you will see a sign. Onun o münacatına bakılınca, bir-iki cümle içinde hemen ona işaret vardır, Münâcaatı içinde.
In that time, God's Messenger prayed for humankind. O dönemde Efendimiz yine insanlık için dua etti orada.
As such, whenever we see anyone faced with calamity and misfortune, from India to Yemen, we must say, 'O Allah, for all of them.'
However, some of them, the people of belief are dearer to us. Fakat bazıları, bizim için daha önemlidir; "ehl-i iman" bunlar.
Above all, they have dedicated themselves to the Qur'an, and have not taken any benefit for the sake of the world. Hele kendilerini Kur'an'a adamışlardır; bunlar, hizmet için gitmişler, dünya adına hiçbir şey elde etmemişler, dünyanın değişik yerlerinde.
For one of them to die, it should be like the Last Day for us.
Indeed, there is a noble saying of the Prophet expressing this.
In that way, the death of an authentic believer is like the death of humanity.
That is why for them we must offer our courtesy and turn to prayer and God. This should not be seen as a courtesy, rather desire to do so.
Besides this, we must turn to prayer for all humankind, saying 'O God, grant them guidance. Ama bunun dışında bütün insanlık için, ister hidayetleri adına, "Allah'ım, hidayet eyle Allah'ım.
Save them from the misfortune of not knowing You. Seni bilmeme talihsizliğinden kurtar onları.
Give them guidance in knowing You.' Seni bilme talihliliğine irşad buyur onları" dersiniz.
Please if you wish, you may say, 'Remove these calamities and misfortunes'. "İsterseniz bu belaları, musibetleri def' eyle" dersiniz.
Then you must also teach them how to pray and invocate in this manner. Sonra onlara da öğreteceksiniz esasen dua etmelerini.
'Come and beg to God. "Gelin Allah'a yalvarın.
You may pray to God as you wish. It is up to you. Pray to God, let us pray together, ask for the removal of these calamities and misfortunes.'
The principles of good conduct are such. Genel ahlak da, bu.
One who doesn't know God in one's conscience will be overwhelmed in this journey or become tired. "İmanını marifet ile bezemeyen bir insan, yol yorgunluğundan kurtulamaz veya sürekli yol yorgunluğu yaşar" diyorsunuz.
Worship and being of service isn't what causes demotivation and fatigue. İbadet ü tâat, Allah'a kulluk, insanlarda yorgunluk yapabilecek şey değildir.
When is it different? Fakat ne zaman değildir?
When one has adorned his faith with the knowledge of God... İnsan, imanını "marifet" ile bezemiş ise.
This is essentially to know God, which everyone seeks.  Marifet, "Kalbin Zümrüt Tepeleri"ndeki çerçevesi ile ele aldığınız zaman, Allah'ı bilme" demektir ki herkes onu istiyor.
It is expressed as spiritual knowledge, the one who has the knowledge of God, and who knows God with His Attributes and Names. "İrfan" kelimesi ile ifade ediliyor, "Ârif" kelimesi ile ifade ediliyor, sonra müktesebat olarak "Mâruf" kelimesi ile ifade ediliyor.
With all these different expressions, it still strikes the same notes.  Değişik ifadeler ile hep aynı nokta vurgulanıyor.
To have complete knowledge of the Divine Essence Zât-ı Ulûhiyet hakkında tam, sağlam bir bilgiye sahip olma.
To internalize this knowledge of God... Tâbir-i diğerle, esasen, Allah hakkındaki bilgisini içtenleştirme.
To abandon the base desires and instincts, to rise to the degree of life of the heart and the spirit. Tâbir-i diğerle, hayvaniyetten çıkma, cismâniyeti bırakma, kalb ve ruhun derece-i hayatına yükselme.
This last point is our Master Bediüzzaman's expression Bu son tarif, belki en câmî olanı, Üstadımıza ait bir ifade.
To abandon the base desires and instincts, to rise to the degree of life of the heart and the spirit. Evet, "hayvaniyetten çıkma, cismâniyeti bırakma, kalb ve ruhun derece-i hayatına yükselme" deniyor, buna.
It is beyond any doubt, without any possible chance in the contrary that God exists,  Efendim, riyâzî kat'iyetle, aksine zerre kadar ihtimal vermeyecek şekilde Allah var;
He exists with His Glorified Divine Attributes, with His Beautiful Names, exist, His Greatest Name, with His Grandeur, with His Majesty, with His Lordship, with His Divine Qualities, evsâf-ı Sübhaniyesi ile var, Esmâ-i Hüsnâsıyla var, İsm-i Âzâmı ile var, Azameti ile var, Kibriyası ile var, Rububiyeti ile vâr, Şuûnatıyla var,
and as Imam Rabbani adds, with His Divine Modes.
These are the realities of the Divine Essence. Bunlar, Zât-ı Ulûhiyet ile ilgili hakikatler.
But a small portion of the responsibility of this falls upon us.
That we have not been able to represent Islam in the right way, be exemplary in action and conduct, thus those we engaged in didn't believe. İslamiyeti doğru-dürüst temsil edemediğimizden dolayı, örnek Müslümanlık olmadı; onlar da (muhataplarımız da) inanmadılar.
Yes, some of the blame rests with us. Evet, bize ait kusur da söz konusu.
During the time of the noble Prophet, on horseback... Devr-i Risâletpenâhi'de, atın-katırın sırtında.
If they had access to today's technological advancements, communication, there would not have been a single person on Earth that would not have believed. Eğer bugünün teknolojik imkânları, muhabere, muvâsala imkânları olsaydı, bugün yeryüzünde tek inanmamış insan kalmayacaktı.
Yes, it is such a thing. Evet, öyle bir şey.
Why? Neden?
They suffered the burden of that responsibility. O işin dertlisi insanlar.
'This is all that I care about: "Benim derdim bu:
Informing others of my Lord. Rabbimi anlatmak.
Letting others know about the All-Majestic One Whom I believe and love', making humans love Him with obedience, so that He loves us as well.
This consideration... Bu mülahaza.
May God Almighty make our hearts be like this if He wills. Cenâb-ı Hak, kalblerimizi öyle eylesin inşaallah u teâlâ.
This is called Knowledge of God. Marifet diyoruz.
One can tire of the journey even with such knowledge, especially if his faith is not adorned.
He may even feel tired when he observes the Prescribed Prayer. Namaz kılarken, hakikaten yorulur.
I asked about someone and they said, 'He misses his Prayers sometimes'. Birini sordum da ben, "Ara sıra kaçırıyor" falan dediler.
What does 'missing sometimes' mean? Evet, ara sıra kaçırma ne demek?
I know people who perform the Night Vigil (Tahajjud) in the morning with tears if they miss it. Ben, öyle insan biliyorum ki, teheccüdü kılamadığından dolayı, ağlayarak sabah kaza ediyor onu.
Besides, in one sense, these are voluntary things that you would perform as well.
If you leave the necessary Witr Prayer to the night, I believe, the Witr Prayer will come and wake you up like a drum, that way you can also perform the Night Vigil as well. Yatsı namazının vitr-i vâcibini geceye bırakırsanız, zannediyorum, vitr-i vâcib, davul tokmağı gibi sizi kaldırır, siz de o zaman, bir zurna gibi, teheccüdü dillendirmeye çalışırsınız.
However, the knowledge of the Divine Essence is even beyond the mathematical certainty. Fakat riyazî kat'iyetin üstünde, esas Zât-ı Ulûhiyet bilgisi.
As you can find in The Imploring Hearts: Evet, görüyorsunuz o el-Kulubu'd-Dâria'da:
'Speaking of the proofs, knowing You through proofs... "Delâilden (delillerden) bahsetmek, Seni delâil ile tanımak.
What does this mean? O da ne demek?"
These proofs are Your creations. Senin delâil dediğin şeyler, Senin yarattığın şeyler.
Things you have created. Yarattığın şeyler.
It is You who has created them. Sen yaratmışsın onları.
Didn't You exit before these things existed?! Ee onlar yok olduğu dönemde, Sen yok muydun?
God forbid! Absolutely, You exit beyond time and space. Hâşâ ve kellâ.
God forbid, a hundred thousand times, God forbid!' Yüz bin defa hâşâ."
Yes, evidence is like a walking stick to a blind man.
So that he does not stumble, fall and he walks by touching his surroundings using the stick. Bir şeye takılmasın, düşmesin, sendelemesin diye; onunla şuraya dokunarak, buraya dokunarak yolunu alsın diye.
This is how these proofs are. Bunun gibidir delâil.
Believing in God beyond the proofs...
We call this Knowledge of God. "Marifet" dersiniz ona.
This is also called 'yaqin' (certainty)', certainty based on knowledge, certainty based on witnessing, then, certainty based on direct experience. Ona aynı zamanda "Yakîn" demişler, "İlme'l-yakîn" demişler, "Ayne'l-yakîn" demişler, ondan sonra da "Hakka'l-yakîn".
Some, like Imam Rabbani, have said, 'the certainty based on direct experience is not possible in this world' while others have phrased it 'not possible in the strict sense'.
In fact, when praying, we should also ask for this: 'O God, grant us the certainty based on direct experience'.
Yes, with an attainment of such high level of knowledge, a person's reasoning will only be of accordance.
Reasoning... Nazar.
Reasoning and intention are of great importance.  Nazar ve niyet, çok önemlidir.
The Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman placed great emphasis in this regard. Hazreti Üstad, onun da üzerinde duruyor.
There were constant rumours of his 'death'.  Bir de sık sık "Öldü" şayiası çıkarıyorlar.
Is there any need to say this?  Bunu söylemeye gerek var mı?
Please, don't believe lies.  İnanmayın, yalan...
What was it that they would spread? O idi, ne diyorlardı?
Apparently, I have also died, and it is my thing (hologram) being shown. Ben ölmüşüm de, bilmem neyimi (hologram), yapmış arkadaşlar.
My friends have made a video of such, a skeleton, that is what is talking.  Öyle bir şey yapmışlar, bir iskelet, o konuşuyormuş.
It seems to me, they are the fools of time, as their existence, their faith on the path they are walking on and their safety relies on others' being shackled. Zannediyorum mevcudiyetlerini, yürüdükleri yolda güvenlerini, emniyetlerini başkalarının yok olmasına bağlamış, humekâ-i zaman bunlar.
'The fools of time waste their time senselessly.' "Humekâ-yı zaman nanay oynarlar."
The Honourable Imam of Alvar mentions: Diyor ya, Alvarlı Efe Hazretleri:
'People bother about others; your beloved has abandoned you "El elden üzülmüş, yâr elden gitmiş
The fools of time waste their time senselessly Humekâ-yı zamân nanay oynarlar
The Last Day has arrived, and history has ended Kurb-i kıyâmetdir târih de bitmiş
The fools of time waste their time senselessly.' Humekâ-yı zamân nanay oynarlar."
The fools of time lost everything; they are only consoled with the senseless use of time.  Her şeyleri bitmiş, onunla teselli oluyorlar, humekâ-yı zaman.
They have lost their mind senselessly to the temporary life of this world. Their life revolves around the armour of their cars, flying private planes, and these sorts of serious thoughts, I am not going to say 'deep' thoughts, as these are thoughts that everyone can understand, which they cannot seem to remove from their minds leave them to be with their foolishness. Akıllarını sadece dünyada kalmaya, yaşamaya kaptırmış, hayatını zırhlı arabalarla, tuhaf tuhaf uçaklarla sürdüren kimseler, bu türlü ciddî şeyleri, "derin" demiyorum, çünkü herkesin anlayabileceği şeyler- düşünmeye fırsat bulamadıklarından dolayı, ahmaklıkları ile kalıyorlar; ahmaklıklarıyla.
In the Holy Qur'an, there are hundreds of verses, which mention 'contemplation', 'reflection', 'intellect'.  Kur'an-ı Kerim'de, çok yerde, belki yüzlerce yerde, "tefekkür", "tedebbür", "akıl" hep nazara veriliyor.
Yet, the message here is the message of serving faith and humanity. Oysaki burada mesele, olup-biten mesele, Hizmet meselesi.
Yes, in a way, they speak of 'state and nation'; Evet, bir yönüyle, hani "devlet, millet" falan diyorlar;
'Do not think the glory of a people held in contempt will be damaged. "Hakir olduysa millet şanına noksan gelir sanma
A jewel does not lose value by being dropped on the floor.' Yere düşmekle cevher sakıt olmaz kadr ü kıymetten."
It does not lose from its weight and value.  Vezin bozulmuyor, iki tane kapalı hece.
Let us say 'Hizmet' (service) instead.  "Hizmet" diyeceksiniz.
'Do not think the glory of our service will be affected because it is held in contempt "Hakir düştüyse Hizmet, şânına noksan gelir sanma
a gemstone falling to the ground does not diminish its worth.' Yere düşmekle cevher, sâkıt olmaz kadr ü kıymetten."
Don't think that your worth is nothing because people despise you; a gemstone falling to the ground does not diminish its worth. Hakir olduysa millet şânına noksan gelir sanma; yere düşmekle cevher sâkıt olmaz kadr ü kıymetten.
Let them say that and try to see you in that way. Varsın desinler onlar; o mevzuda onu öyle görmeye çalışsınlar.
A gem.  Cevher.
If a stray stone touches a golden bowl, "Kazara bir sapan taşı bir altın kâseye değse
neither the stone gains value, nor the bowl loses value at all', say the prominent ones. Ne taşın kıymeti artar, ne kıymetten düşer kâse" diyor büyükler.
They have stated all of these.  Söylemişler her şeyi.
But because they only strive for this worldly life, whilst negating the life of the soul and heart, when they come across matters that you deem miniscule, they struggle to comprehend them.  Ama sadece yeryüzünde kalma mücadelesi verdiklerinden, bütün kalbî, ruhî, dimağî faaliyetlerini ona teksif ettiklerinden dolayı, sizin için öyle çok basit görünen meseleleri bile kavramada zorlanıyorlar onlar.
But let whatever you engage in be positive and good. Fakat sizin yapacağınız şeyler, pozitif olsun, müspet olsun.
As our Master Bediüzzaman says, 'We must have positive action.' Üstadımızın buyurduğu gibi, "Müsbet hareket etmek lazım."
Positive action with the resources of our time... Pozitif hareket, günümüzün imkân ve vesileleri ile.
Yes, that is what they said.  Evet, onlar öyle dediler.
Yes, in terms of our character, we must focus on how we can reach out to them by consultation. Tabii orada üslup mevzuunda belki istişare ederek, şimdi bunlara nasıl yaklaşalım.
What shall we say and in what way?' Neyi diyelim, ne ile diyelim?"
Today, it came to my mind again, I recited it in the Prescribed Prayer; I recited the Chapter Al-Mu'min. Bugün yine aklıma geldi, namazda okudum; Mü'min/Gâfir Sûresi'ni okudum da.
The believing man from among the clan of the Pharaoh must be looked at as an example when he was beginning to speak, how he developed and continued it and finalised his speech.  O zâtın, Mü'min-i Âl-i Firavun'un söze nasıl başladığı, nasıl geliştirdiği, nasıl devam ettiği, nasıl sonunu bağladığı.
He says: Hani orada diyor:
'O my people! "Ey kavmim.
How is it with me that I call you to salvation when you call me to the Fire!
You call me so that I should disbelieve in God and associate with Him partners about whose partnership I have no sure knowledge; and I call you to the All-Glorious with irresistible might (Able to destroy whoever rebels against Him), the All-Forgiving (Who forgives whoever turns to Him in repentance).' (Al-Ghafir, 40/41-42). Siz bana Allah'ı inkâr etmem, hakkında hiçbir bilgiye sahip olmadığım şeyleri O'na ortak koşmam için çağrıda bulunuyorsunuz; ben ise sizi izzet sahibi, çok bağışlayıcı olan Allah'a davet ediyorum" (Gâfir, 40/41-42).
First, they notice his humanity, a very smart thing.
I am even saying that our friends should take this person as an example and guide for themselves when they are engaging with others.
You see, how shall one begin to engage in something and in what way? Efendim, neye, nasıl başlamak lazım?
And then what should we conclude with? Sonra ne ile noktalamak lazım?
'Soon you will remember all that I now am telling you.  "Size söylediklerimi yakında hatırlayıp anlayacaksınız.
As for me, I commit my affair to God (in full submission). Surely God sees the servants well.' (Al-Ghafir, 40/44). Ben hal ve işimi Allah'a havale ediyorum; kuşkusuz Allah kullarını çok iyi görmektedir" (Gâfir, 40/44).
All the prominent ones were like this. Büyükler hep böyle.
The Honourable Habib an-Najjar also ends on this, just as seen in the final verses of the second page of the Chapter Ya-Sin.
Yes, it is critical to deliberate over this very demeanour, and speak in congruence with such a stance.
Similarly, the Honourable Abu Bakr was doing his duty in such a manner, as though he was a believing man from among the clan of the Pharaoh. Onun için Hazreti Ebu Bekir efendimiz de o kıvamda olduğundan, Mü'min-i Âl-i Firavun'un vazifesini yapıyordu, öyleydi.
Do not be misled by the persons you see in movies. O filmlerdekine, dizilerdekine bakmayın.
The Honourable Abu Bakr was not a typical man, he was unique. Hazreti Ebu Bekir, insanlık adına -esasen- "cins" bir insandır.
And so was the Honourable Umar ibn al-Khattab. Hazreti Ömer de öyle.
To love, respect, and value their contributions is a principle in religion. Onları sevmek, onlara saygı duymak, onların kıymet-i harbiyelerini kabul etmek, dindendir.
Religion... Din.
It is not right to say everything, but I see no problem in saying this much: Bazı şeyleri söylemek doğru değil ama ben bu kadarını söylemekte beis görmüyorum:
Sometimes when reciting the Tahiyyah (benedictions) and pondering over God's saying to His Beloved Messenger, 'Peace be on you, O Prophet!', it seems to me that the skies, the respected angels, and other spiritual beings start to tremble. Bazen Tahiyyâtı okurken, Zât-ı Ulûhiyet'in, Efendimiz'e اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ demesini düşününce, sanki benim nazarımda o esnada gökler ihtizaza geliyor; Melâike-i kiram ve ruhânîlerin kalbleri tir tir titremeye başlıyor.
When you also connect this matter to such a deliberation, the same trembling appears in you, too.
We see that the whole earth and the heavens salute him. Bakıyorsunuz bütün arz u sema, O'nun için selam duruyor.
We must also consider our Beloved Prophet's show of reverence to Him in 'All praise, supplications, bodily and financial worships, sovereignty and might belongs to God' with the same depth and reverence, as explained by our Master Bediüzzaman in The Radiant Proof.
This will bring about the same things in you. Bu, sizde de aynı şeyleri meydana getirecek.
Such a reciprocal greeting and salutation. Aynı zamanda öyle bir karşılıklı selamlaşma, mukabil selam alma.
I believe this will elicit a very deep sense of reverence in all of us.
Something is taking its shape that will be relevant to the whole universe, that will be trusted to the ummah. Bütün kâinatı alakadar eden bir şey, ümmete emanet edilecek bir şey oluşuyor.
'All praise, supplications, bodily and financial worships, sovereignty and might belongs to God.'
One should not underestimate human beings.  Bunun gibi, insanı hafife almamak lazım.
Those who are aware of humanity say such things, they feel a power to change the orbit of the Earth if provided with a lever.
On the other hand, the Holy Qur'an indicates on several occasions; some people, when they are exposed to calamities and misfortunes, they go into such a sensitive state and appeal to the Almighty God in such a way...
However, when they reach their destination, they lose their spiritual alertness. Fakat sahile çıktıklarında kendilerini salıveriyorlar.
It should not be like this. Öyle olmaması lazım.
Just like you appeal to the Almighty God with the most complete appeals when you are exposed to waves at sea, you should, at the same time, appeal to Almighty God once you reach the shores. O deryada dalgalara maruz kaldığınız zaman, Cenâb-ı Hakk'a teveccüh-i tâm ile teveccüh ettiğiniz gibi, aynı zamanda sahile çıktığınız zaman da yine Cenâb-ı Hakk'a teveccüh etmeniz lazım.
Do not miss the Tahajjud Prayer... Teheccüdü kaçırmayın.
In the last third of the night. Gecenin sülüs-i âhirinde.
That comes to mind, as well; always that, you get up, you recite a prayer, you observe the Prayer.
You start to think: Aklına geliyor:
'O my Lord! "Yâ Rabbi.
The last third of the night... Sülüs-i âhir.
You stated as such. You intend to favour us in this period.' Sen, öyle buyurmuştun, teveccüh edecektin."
In the last third of the night... Sülüs-i âhir; yani, son üçte bir.
'O the claimant of God's effulgence "Ey tâlib-i feyz-i Hudâ
Come to the circle, join the circle. Gel halkaya, gir halkaya.
O the lover of the Divine light Ey âşık-ı nûr-i Hudâ
Come to the circle, join the circle.' Gel halkaya, gir halkaya."
The circle...  Halka.
May peace and God's mercy and blessings be upon you forever and constantly.
